Sorta like you.
I simply don't like working my tail off only to see my hard earned money go to those that work the system so they can make a good living not even working. When people choose social welfare programs over working for a living then something is wrong with the social welfare system. I have people come into my business and want me to give them an application so they can continue to get their unemployment check. They are not out looking for a job, they are out looking for a way to make a living and not work. A system that allows that type of behavior is broken and needs to be fixed. I know people that are on disability yet are perfectly able bodied enough to do most jobs and many do on the side. They worked long and hard and have told countless lies to be able to get that check every month and they have no intention of ever getting off of it. Our disability system is broken and needs to be fixed. We have women having children for no other reason than more income. When they have those children, they tell them to act crazy so they get an SSI check so they have even more free money. Do you think those children will ever be productive citizens? What do you think they will do when they get older? Repeat what they were taught by their mother. We have people wasting food stamp money on items that are considered a luxury such as lobster simply because it is considered food. If there is a balance left over on their EBT card it doesn't go back into the food stamp fund, it simply carries over to the next month. When you have waste and abuse of social welfare programs like this then the system is broken and needs to be fixed. The list goes on and on and yes I have a big problem with it. Social welfare programs should keep you alive but they should not afford you anymore than minimum wage. No person should have to work 2-3 jobs making minimum wage only to have someone that doesn't even work make more than they do. It's wrong and immoral.

That's exactly what I have been talking about. Greed ON BOTH SIDES is killing America. If you think for a minute that the democrats are not greedy and corrupt you are far more naive than you seem in your posts. How do you think politicians make $150K-$250K per year yet they live the lifestyle of those making millions? If you think for a second that social welfare money all goes to the recipients and the overhead costs associated with the programs your crazy. Of course you can no more prove that skimming off of the social welfare pot happens any more than you can prove who's padding who's pocket in the form of special interest groups. It's exactly why I am a conservative independent. The problem I have with republicans is that they think of themselves first and the voting public second. I can assure you that if this country goes full out socialism then the establishment republicans will take an "if you can't beat em join em" attitude. If they stand on principle they have a chance of ending up being subject to the same laws we are subject to. They will save themselves and fall in line. The problem I have with the democratic party is they promote class warfare to achieve a harmful social welfare society that ultimately gives them power and with power comes money. If they told America exactly what they wanted to do then the democratic party would just disappear because nobody would stand for it.
I'm not naive to the political system and the corruption that pervades every aspect of it's existence..and since the founding of this Country or any other form of government from the beginning of mankind.

All the fine political rhetoric that engulfs us on a daily basis is aimed at ensuring whatever institution that produces this rhetoric stays in power..a power that insures their continuing grip on that power and therefor the wealth those institutions provide.

Is this Country in crisis? Sure we are.
Are we (elected representatives) working together for the greater good of the people? Of course not.
Are we (The People) demanding that our elected representatives work together? No.
Why? We allow ourselves to be manipulated into opposite political camps, camps so opposed as to render our best interests secondary.

I support the left, why? Because, despite it's many failings, it's waste, it still represents to me my best interests as a member of the middle class and a blue collar worker. A blue collar worker that has worked his ass off trying to live the American Dream...and has succeeded in a small way. Same goes for my wife who has on several occasions, for many years, worked two jobs in order to insure our children were properly educated.

Nothing can change what I see as the fundamental reason we fought a the American Revolution, to give every citizen the opportunity to succeed in a society somewhat devoid of a ruling class..in many ways we are on the precipice of returning to that former situation..minus the hereditary titles afforded the aristocracy of 18th century Europe.

"It should seem then that it must be because of the enormous wealth, which places them above attention to the increase of their revenues, that I am conscious that an equal division of property is impracticable, but the consequences of this enormous inequality producing so much misery to the bulk of mankind, legislators cannot invent too many devices for subdividing property. Another means of silently lessening the inequality of property is to exempt all from taxation below a certain point, and to tax the higher portions of property in geometrical progression as they rise." - Thomas Jefferson

I am a French National who came here in 1998 to attend Harding University on a UN supported exchange program. The whole thrust of the program was to encourage diversity and try to inject a little culture and colour into the Bible Belt. Needless to say the program was an epic fail. The troglodytes in this area are so outdated and simple minded. All I saw at every turn was hate towards my sexuality (Gay man) and backwards political thinking. Christian Dogma beingfoc fed to every person. And backwards views about all creatures. Americans are not satisfied with the inhumane way meat is provided they feel they have to hunt innocent creatures for sport. To this day when I see people in camo attire I want to wretch, such savagery.

Since 2008 I now have hope. The election of Barack Obama is giving the world hope that America may yet join the 21st century. People talk about "The pursuit of happiness" being a God given right? how can anyone forced to work 40 hours a week be happy? it's barbaric! the proliferation of guns in this Country only shows the disregard for human life. And why should anyone be entitled to ten million dollars? the priorities here are nauseating. Obama will set this Country straight, I have faith.

Yes, I am here on a 10 year expired Visa. I get welfare and food stamps. Do I feel owed this? yes. Until every person has equal rights (gay marriage), all guns have been disposed of and the wealth has been equally distributed I will do exactly what I am doing now. Am I owed this? absolutely! American corporations have exploited the worlds economy for decades. Workers here are fools. The executive pay levels in this Country are obscene. I will stay and support President Obama's agenda to bring America to that of a European Socialist (not a bad word people, Socialism provides for all citizens) loving compassionate Country.

Yet my friend, yet. The writing is on the wall. The American worker has tired of years of exploitation. Romney's agenda of Capitolism was the last gasp of a broken bussiness model. The straight, white, bible carrying, hunting male is a dying breed. Look to California, they are changing the Country out there. The traditional Southern man belongs in the Smithsonian with the rotary phone and the horse drawn carriage. The times are a changin! in 20 years whites will be a minority in America. I predict the millionaire will soon follow. One way or another Americans will surrender their guns, the world will demand it. During his 2nd term Obama will have 2 possibly 3 Supreme court appointments. He has a GOP that has been neutered, they cannot stop him. Once we get the Supreme Court that will be the death rattle regarding your outdated narrow vision of America.

OK caveman, riddle me this, site one example in my post that is false? sorry to burst your bubble but Mitt lost. White males lost! Bible thumpers lost! Your violent way of life lost! equality won! minorities won! workers of America won! President Obama is the first "European" President America has ever had and the world applauds. Why do you fear this change? why should we accept have and have nots? how do you not see the positive? America is once again liked. People across the globe honestly believe America is joining the party. I am thrilled with the direction the President has chosen for this Country. Trust me on this, once restitution has been made the world will embrace America. I honestly believe the borders are coming down, one planet, one people!

A simple honest and sincere question. How does the people the democratic party demonize hold the middle class down? I truly don't understand how someone could believe such a claim. If Mitt Romney, Warren Buffet, Al Gore, George Bush, or whomever makes billions of dollars per year do you really think that somehow it reduces the chances of you succeeding? Does it rob them of the opportunity to succeed? Take Sam Walton for example. He was certainly not always wealthy. How did he overcome the "oppressors" in this country if he wasn't in that group already? Do you really think that all, or even most, of the people struggling in this country is the fault of someone they don't even know who makes billions per year? Do you think that there is 0 hope for someone to overcome a bad life to be the next tycoon of whatever industry. If you think there is a chance then you must see and admit that the wealthy don't have as much to do with a person's success or failure in life as the person themselves. Reading your posts I am more convinced that you and I are not that far apart in our views but rather who is responsible for our success and failuers as a society is where we differ. I look at my life and I can pick out countless opportunities that I missed because of my decisions. It was never because of some Wall Street big wig was making an obscene salary that caused me to miss those opportunities. It was me. But you know what, I decided somewhere that I couldn't keep living like I was living or my situation would never change so I changed my priorities, my work ethic, my drive, my purpose, and my situation soon changed. Now I see opportunities and they don't get away from me. As a result, my life is in a very good place and getting better all the time. A person's decisions in life compound in whatever direction that person chooses and that can be good or bad but it's ultimately up to the person and noone can change that. Government intervention in our lives can make that process easier or harder. The more government control of our lives we have, the harder that road to success becomes.

Corning is no longer a community. we should just put chains and bars around the whole city because of the short time is going to look like the inside of prison anyway.
