El Dorado is perfect. We will definitely be back up to 25,000 by 2020.

Why can't you idiots see how much this town is booming? Its absolute perfection. There is no corruption here, or bad business, or poor schooling. We have the best school in the state. We have more business than the town can handle. And all our new retail and restaurants will be drawing people in like flies to candy. You know people that visit for our festivals are going to look around and be like "I have to live here".

And for those idiots that say our town is ghetto... where is your head? Up your ass? There is nothing ghetto about this town. El Dorado is just as nice as any other town in the country! We have no ghettos! Nobody here abuses welfare at all. I don't see how anyone can call a town with so few minorities "ghetto" anyway. We only have like, 30% minorities, which is just like everywhere else.

I'm sick of hearing anyone say anything in this town isn't perfect, because NEVER has a single politician or official ever made a SINGLE mistake in this town. EVER. Anyone who points out something that should be improved is just a miserable person who hates their life! Happy people like me will never admit to a problem of any kind. That is the key to happiness. That and being obsessed with one El Dorado family for at least three years, of course. THOSE ARE THE KEYS TO HAPPINESS!

So the shortest distance is 60 miles. That still doesnt mean we're anywhere close to an interstate, well. Recognize the point being made, not the childlike ideolized irrelevent facts. Bottom line, lack of interstate access has hindered El Dorado's growth.

Lack of four lane access and access by air hasn't helped either.

If I was the Mayor I would fill every building on Industrial road I would perhaps spend money on a new one to provide JOBS JOBS JOBS JOBS Instead of a 8 million dollar worthless cc without parking you bet I would!! I would do such things as exempt them from taxes to get them here, instead of taxing them out of town like they did others you bet!! Retail will never survive until we have INDUSTRY INDUSTRY INDUSTRY, JOBS JOBS JOBS MONEY MONEY MONEY to support such retail.

Agreed. The current mayor AND City Council think that "if you build it, they will come". BULL SHIT ! We MUST concentrate on jobs, not a worthless hotel and building up of the Conference Center. Someone made a comment earlier that El Dorado would return to 25,000 by 2020... BULL SHIT AGAIN ! People like me moved away from El Dorado because of several factors. One is the anti-business climate of the city. Again, the mayor and City Council are to blame for this and have been for the last couple of years. Second, the cost of doing business is going up becuase you have to have a permit just to wipe your ass.

So how do you change it ? Simple. You start by voting out the current mayor and City Council and replace them with "long signted" people who want to really grow the city by adding jobs, therefore adding to the tax base (more jobs, more people, more taxpayers). Unless you change the mindset of the city government (or change the makeup of it), then the decline of the city will continue. If that happens, we'll just turn into another Pine Bluff.

It's nice to say 'turn them all out', but in reality there is no one who wants to replace them with themselves. A single individual who manages to get in with a different viewpoint than the majority is doomed to being ignored or harassed.

4 lanes have been built, and we have 2 airports. Lack of interstate access has killed small towns.

Four lane to Ruston and flights to Love Field and an inconvenient terminal at Memphis don't cut it. Most people can't fly into the downtown airport on their own. Try planning a flight into or from El Dorado and you'll see why people stop at Little Rock, Shreveport, Texarkana, or Monroe and drive in or go there to initiate their flights. It's hard to get in and out of El Dorado. I69 won't come close enough to El Dorado to help us. Businesses will move out there.

Yea I fly out of Monroe and Little Rock. If I could plan my whole flight on-line
From El Dorado on one site, I would use The El Dorado airport. With current technology, this should be done and the numbers using our airport will go up.
