Parking has been a big big issue at the conference center from the beginning!!! This is a no brainer and it would accomodate a big hotel as well!! A multilevel parking area would be a great idea, with walk ways from each level to the conference center and new hotel in the making.. like the multilevel parking at the casino !! Charles

Parking at the conference is not and never has been an issue. It has hosted events of over 700 people with mo problems/complaints reported. If you notice that Shreveport and Hot Springs have conference/convention centers that are adjacent to hotels, with most available parking either charging a toll or located AT the hotel. A multilevel parking area would be great, if the high costs of constructing it would be necessary. If you're willing to throw your own money into the hat, I agree that we should get started on this project today!

I mean think about it!! The casino does not monopolize every vendor in the area with their customers! Why monopolize the end of town, when you can build a multilevel parking lot up and down??? I mean you can multiply the parking area with the same amount of ground space by building up and down.. Think about it, its a no brainer CAF

Well!!! What did that useless trolley car cost?? Now whats it going to cost for maintenance, insurance, a driver and up keep over the years?? And the inconvenience of having to go to a hotel, and commute across town!! Whats it going to cost to purchase other commercial property in the area for parking, the demolition of buildings etc.etc?? A bunch!! The lighting and security of a larger area would be another issue, as well as many more!! A two level paid parking area would double the parking without purchasing any additional land, it wouldnt make college girls have to park in a dark area and walk down the street at night, and wouldnt monopolize other vendors in the areas parking for their customers!! It would also generate revenue to help with initial construction, and future upkeep CAF

Hosted events that host over 700 people!! No inconvenience to the city, but it is a loss to the other vendors in the area by their parking spaces being monopolized during these events with non customers using their spaces. It is a inconvenience putting college girls at risk having to walk down a dark unsecured street when they could park on campus on a lighted secured parking area!!

Wasnt that trolley car purchased to transport event attendants from, and to hotels on east side of town due to inadequate parking at the conference center?? I believe it was!!! Who wants to go to an event, have to rent a hotel pay for transportation to and from these events due to not enough parking, and the incinvenience and expense to ride a crowded trolley car to and from the event.. Some may just want to attend the event, and head home afterwards they may not be able to afford motel, trolley car, and event!!! Too much sugar for a dime!!

The college is working on expanding parking areas. That's why they're tearing down all those buildings around campus.

A trolley ride with historical commentary by R. "Bubba" the conductor along Hillsboro will be a memory of El Dorado the drunk and drugged public school teacher conventioneers from dry counties will cherish forever.

Never have I heard someone claim there isn't a problem with the CC parking. I guess its much easier to deny there is a problem than to actually solve the problem. The city planners and their lackeys are pathetically blind to every real issue in this town. I guess denial means never having to do anything more... Extra effort would just be horrible for them.

None of those costs (which some are not even actual costs accounted from tax payers or through city funds) even come REMOTELY close to the high costs of a multilevel parking garage. No local vendors are being "monopolized" by their parking. Your pie in the sky idea is what gets state and local governments onto extreme amounts of debt. Not only is your idea unrealistic for a town our size, but its not financially smart. Luckily, you're not in a position to make such stupid decisions with taxpayer money.

Yes, hosted events over 700 people. It is not a loss to other vendors when those spaces remain vacant on most nights anyway. Don't you think their management would charge for parking for conference center events if it was really burdensome to them? You're not the only "smart" person to recognize this. And you're concerned about college girls at risk? By walking down dark alleys??? What DARK ALLEYS? You're a freaking moron.

The purchase of the trolley was to transport downtown visitors to and from their hotels on the south side of town. It's trying to help prevent drink driving, dumbass. It has nothing to do with a nonexistent parking issue.

Again, NO DUMBASS. It was brought in (not even purchased, really) to keep people from drinking and driving. Quit being a dipshit.

Because you haven't actually discussed with anyone but the miserable naysayers on this website. This website being an actual source of public opinion is like human sh!t being a good source of garden fertilizer. There isn't a problem to solve with the CC parking. You are pathetically creating a complaint where one isn't needed. Extra effort or funds would be welcome from you, but its easier for a lazyass like you to anonymously complain about things than to actual get active and do something about it, isn't it? Pathetic.
