We've made our choice concerning which route our kids are going to take. Anyone have anything to say about the pros and cons of each, why they choose a certain school for their kids and why?

Why does this have to turn into a trash blog??? You know your kids, interview the schools and then decide.
If you want your child to be ready for the real world, don't leave it up to the school and it's teachers, be a parent and show them what to do, be there for them when they make mistakes and then pray for the best. We all get handed great blessings and hard timess, but in the end, once these kids have grown up, they will have to decide what kind if person they want to be and what kind they don't want to be and no matter what hand they are dealt they will have to take responsibility for themselves.

I have been part of both El Dorado Schools and Parkers Chapel Schools. Parkers Chapel is growing, and the educational benefit of Parkers Chapel is outstanding. Parkers Chapel is a special place, despite what others on Topix are likely to say. Take everything you hear with a grain of salt; if you hear "they think they're better than everyone" or "they think they're God's gift", it is likely that jealousy is behind such statements. Others in the county do not want Parkers Chapel to be successful. Why can't we have two successful school districts and communities in the county? Do your research on both schools. El Dorado is a great school district; there is no disputing their success. They have a great vision for their students; however, give PC a try. As the new superintendent says, "this is a place you want to be!".

Fact of the matter is, EHS services a larger population of students and will always have more to offer than the other county schools. It definitely will have your kid more prepared for college. I have friends and family that have graduated and/or have kids that attend many of the county schools. I honestly believe Smackover to be the best of the group, but Norphlet, PC, and JC are all just as good. Nothing is any more special about the curriculum or test scores as compared to the others.

Definitely. If you want your daughter to be pregnant and unmarried by her early twenties and your son to be arrested for a DUI. Everyone knows Parkers Chapel is a bunch of white trash. I agree that they have a good school district for education. A nice, above average, baseline education. But those people are known county wide for their lack of morals. Its almost ironic they take such pride in themselves. EHS has its obvious problems too. Lack of discipline in the classroom, and it doesn't rank as high as PC because of such high minority percentages. However, as everyone knows the AP route at EHS can't be beat. They produce national merit scholars, kids with the highest scholarship offers even with the Promise, and the most sought after students in the area come from there. They also have standards. You won't see many girls getting pregnant. The ones that do are considered trash already. The boys are humiliated when they get in trouble (or they're trash already). At PC being trashy is normal and "everyone does it", especially all the cool kids. What at EHS is an outlier is average at PC. Teens having sex happens all the time so its weird that with such a good education the PC kids are lacking in smarts when it comes to safe sex. That is a serious problem to me. I'm only 22 and from Norphlet actually so I think I can talk about both schools objectively. Given my age, obviously I don't have kids yet because my parents raised me to have a brain inside my skull. I have friends who graduated from both schools and let me tell you people, the EHS kids carry themselves with way more dignity. I've heard of waayyyyyyy fewer out of marriage pregnancies with the people I know from PC and my EHS friends are more on the way to success. Weird enough, more from EHS are engaged but more from PC are married already because they had to jump the shotgun before baby got here. PC is its own little sub-culture and not one I would ever want my kids to be part of when I have them. Honestly, El Dorado school district wouldn't be the greatest choice for me either. Or Norphlet. I think I would homeschool until the kids were older then send them to EHS for AP if they could handle it.

We don't have two successful school districts. We have two ok ones. The fact that you would write off pc's problems and declare that everyone who notices them is "just jealous" is another example of the pc delusion. And Smackover being the best school in the area? You are obviously an idiot.

Parker's Chapel IS for white trash. I can hardly name anyone out there with kids that had them while married and the others totally jumped the gun by getting married too early and are always so freakin desperate to have kids in hopes their marriage will last. Its stupid. EHS all the way. Those kids have class.

El Dorado Promise is why I would choose EHS over PC. I live in PC, now have 2 grands going to college after EHS. Only one son graduated PC. EHS has more to offer. Like any school, there's always the junk and drugs. But EHS is my choice.

The opening poster didn't ask one thing about living in PC or El Dorado. Going to school in PC has NOTHING to do with teenage pregnancy. Have mercy are you really that stupid?
