Bay Bridge shutdown might not be the last

Just hours after reopening the Bay Bridge, Caltrans officials said Monday they are confident traffic can cross safely, but added the span may be closed in about six months for more permanent repairs.

how come it only took 4 years to build the golden gate bridge and its taking a decade to build a d a m n causeway to Treasure Island???

Some reasons the Golden Gate Bridge only took four years to build: no Mayors' complaining about design & adding to the cost, intelligent engineers not adding to the cost, honesty, integrity, pride in work done, no short-cuts, EXCELLENT materials and best work force available. Also, probably no micro-managing on different levels. I'm sure others can think up other reasons.

Excellent building materials is what we dont have today. I would not be surprised if 99% of the materials used to construct the new bay bridge are imported from China.
Tell me when this thread is updated!
