Close the entire system down. Judging from the freeway traffic, it won't be missed very much. Keep para transit on the line for seniors and disabled persons.

Besides, we'll need the money for our war on terror efforts on the other side of the world. After all, Uncle Sam says that he needs a million dollars a year, per pair of boots on the ground in each of the war zones.

Public transit can not survive without taxpayer subsidies. The subsidy money is needed to make us safer. Guns vs butter. Never mind what Franklin is alleged to have said. What's the use of butter when we have to bow east to Mecca 7 times a day and speak Arabic?

"War is hell!"
-the late General William T. Sherman (USA)

"War is a racket."
-the late General Smedley Butler (USMC)

"...we must guard against the acquisition of unwarranted influence, whether sought or unsought, by the military-industrial complex."
-former President of the U.S. and General of the Army Dwight D. Eisenhower

"I love the smell of napalm in the morning..."
-Robert Duvall as LTC Bill Kilgore in "Apocalypse Now"

I'm glad you mentioned this, General Smedley Butler is the General that exposed W's Grandad; Senator Prescott Bush as a traitor for the NAZI FACISTS (he was their stateside banker) before and during W.W.II, This is a historical fact, find it at the library of congress or GOOGLE it. Grandad = oil and banks. Dad = savings and loans, banks, oil, drugs, and wars. W = Banks, oil, drugs and Wars. Haldeman, Erlichman, Mitchell and Dean it follows a pattern if you know what I mean?(nixon/watergate) remember that slogan ? Same thing with the BUSHS' Government Political Corruption except this time it's the SAME Family, Where is the Supreme Court and I.R.S. on this ? Quit picking on Obama, He'll get us back on track, Public transit and all.

Bush 41 also brought up the phrase "New World Order" shortly after Gulf War I.

Former President Ronald Reagan, in an interview after he left office, regretted his selection of George H.W. Bush as his Vice President. After Bush 41 succeeded Reagan, he (Bush) declared that "the United States would become a kinder and gentler society" which negated former President Reagan's "lean & mean junkyard dog" doctrine.

Bush 41's pick of Senator Dan Quayle as Vice President also left much to be desired. Thank God that nothing happened to President Bush that would have invoked the Presidential Succession Clause in the Constitution! J. Danforth Quayle makes Sarah Palin seem like Mensa material by comparison.

Lastly, it was the administration of President George H.W. Bush who instituted the BRAC military base closure program under the guidance of his Secretary of Defense, Richard B. Cheney which ordered the closure of many bases, including McCLelland & Mather AFB plus the Sacramento Army Depot, Naval Station Treasure Island, Naval Ship Yard Mare Island in Vallejo, Oak Knoll Naval Hospital in Oakland, Alameda Naval Air Station, Naval Air Station Moffett Field in the San Francisco Bay Area plus the Sierra Army Depot in Susanville. And, this is just the closures in northern California. Many more bases were closed in the southern California areas.

These closures were based on a gamble that Russia and China would no longer be a threat to the United States following the collapse of the Iron Curtain & the Soviet Union.

Too bad that the bigger picture of threats to our national security wasn't factored in order to save a few bucks.

Bush 41's vision of the New World Order used to be available on the document "State of Principles of the Project for the New American Century" but is no longer on the Web as the neocon organization petered out in 2006. Here is the lazy person's reference to the PFNAC on Wikipedia:

Well, dah! What do you expect? Hasn't this always been the case? Yet we dump more and more funds into it... for what purpose?

This Country is not built in the same manner as European countries, so don't even go there.

Once our gasoline cost rise to $5 a gallon and the environmental extremist continue their senseless agendas... maybe mass transportation would be workable?

Drill in America, build refineries, and construct more nuclear power plants. Green power is NOT even close to being efficient!

Who's Peter going to rob in order to have any money for Paul to steal?

For Cedric, Dan Quayle is a very intelligent guy. Even Time magazine once said so. You could look it up. I agree he was not ready for "prime time" when Bush 41 picked him, though.

For Chief Wiggum: Peter robs no one. He creates the wealth that government steals to pay Paul. The problem with Kaleefornia is that there are now more Pauls than Peters, and the Pauls have seized control of the reins of government.

Is Fairfield the new Rio Linda?

Thanks P.S. In this dreary pea soup fog, I needed a good chuckle. Your pun on Quayle was a good one.

That was no pun. Dan Quayle was once paired with Albert Gore as two sharp young senators who had become leading experts on defense issues. OK--Time was half right. Al Gore lost it.

And what is it with the Bush Hatred Derangement Syndrome? The American Psychiatric Association now that as a clinical disease.
