the city of el cenizo took over the fire department,by passing a city vote at a city concile meeting. It was well equipped and trained by TEEX at college station but the mayor did away with the volunteers and kept all the equipment that was bought and belongs to the non profit el cenizo vol.fire dept. it was had radios, uniforms and a working truck, now it only has a brush truck and very little real training.under the city leadership it has lost much of the radios, and equipment it had. and all the orginal well trained volunteers which which were certified are no longer volunteers. the current fire dept went to a fire call in rio bravo and had several kids on the fire truck.if two adults show up well then it a good day for the city run fire dept.

To say that there are only kids on the fire truck its a lie. for one this kids are certified as firefighters level1. and have gone through a very rough training in-house which not everyone can pass or do. now since the dept. recruiting no adult male/female volunteered. the only ones were this kids.for me to say I"m very proud of them and would be right next to them in case of a fire call. to those people that bad mouth the dept. come over and train with us for a week.

To begin with we didnt had radios. They were at City Hall so that means we didnt lose them. And for your information we are trained by TEEKS and Laredo Fire Academy. And we might look young but we get the job done.

I say this with all due respect BOMBERO, that the equipment will always suffer some damage of loss. the equipment will not always stay the same. Are you jealous or what, or maybe your one of the firefighters that was sent home even though you were trained!?

I’m a volunteer in the Rio Bravo Volunteer Fire Department in that time it was around 2:23pm. We were listing to the radio dispatch was communicating with El Cenizo Fire Department that the fire was in the Mexican side. In few seconds the fire jumped behind Rosales St. half a block into the brush area the wind was at least 30 – 40 mph north to south after 10 mins. The fire crossed over to the U.S area Cenizo fire started fighting the fire that’s when in jumped into Jimenez St. that’s when they started when they started chasing the fire. That’s when the driver from El Cenizo Fire Dept. was asking dispatch to advise Rio Bravo Fire and Webb County Fire for assistance that’s when we started to roll-out engine one and Tanker one when we got their the Fire Chief form Cenizo position us in Rosales St. and Rita St. the fire was contained and Fire Chief Gonzalez advising the mayor where the fire was and the fire trucks were posted and fighting the fire. That’s when a mobile home and a house started catching fire and later Webb County Fire quick attack, brush truck, and engine were on given the order to head to Cadena and Jimenez because the fire was spreading rapidly later Laredo Fire arrived on scene with 4 fire engines. Between Cenizo, Rio Bravo, Webb County, and Laredo Fire Department the fire was contained around 12a.m at that time Texas fire service many Martinez arrived and advised Cenizo Fire Department that they did an awesome job on preventing a disaster.

Sincerely
The volunteer that was their when the fire happen
