im not a delivery driver i am a server/bartender, i also depend on tips for a living. my opinion is it should not matter rather we make 2.13 or 7.25 or whatever an hour. what does matter is when you come into a restaurant and order food and expect to be waited on hand and foot and cleaned up after then you should pay for those services.when you get your bill and pay for it you are paying for the food you ate. you are not paying for the server that took your order got your drinks brought your food to you got whatever you needed to go with your meal then removed your dishes and brought your dessert then got your check and took care of your payment brought you your change, then cleaned up after you, your friends, your kids,and so on. so to me if you dont think you should have to tip a server or delivery person because its not your problem they already make a certain amount an hour is rediculous. you use our services while you are getting and eating the meal you are paying for so u should pay for them to. if you dont want to tip or cant afford to tip then cook and clean for yourself or hit a drive thru or a restaurant where tips arent expected and appreciated.

Totally agree with you Unbelievable....In my opinion everyone should at least have a base pay of Minimum wage too....I mean come one...isnt that why its called "Minimum" wage? The thing that gets me is that people assume that we make that...and dont know any better because they havent worked a job like that therefore have no experience. Then when we tell them how it really is....they refuse to believe us and think that we are just trying to get one over on them. They are right in the sense that tips are not mandatory..and they dont have to tip. Tell that to the IRS that who says we make 10% cash and 15% credit card gratuity therefore takes it out of our checks anyway weather we made it or not. So we are getting taxed on the money we make and the money we dont make. To go along with the less than minimum wage pay we get..and get taxed on. Plus...we bust our ass just as hard as the next person only to get paid less for doing the same job that we were doing before all the minimum wage increases. Its really unfair...and if you havent done this line of work before and you want to bitch about our complaining...FUCK YOU! because one..YOU HAVE NO CLUE and are a completely IGNORANT to understand what we are trying to TELL YOU! Two....finding another job is easier said than done in this economy. Three...going to school isnt going to pay the bills so we still have to have our job. So I think that before you go and try to cut us Delivery drivers and Servers down by trying to say that we make more than we really do...DO OUR JOB AND SEE! Ill trade you! |

Thank you noone...I plan on calling them for sure. I dont know if its true but I hear KY is suppose to be losing its commonwealth status and becoming an actual state. If thats the case then Federal Law should take over no matter what the dumb ass state Wage regulations say. Shit..all we would need is a damn attorney to read what people been saying on here about us not deserving tips anyway..thinking that we make minimum wage anyway and saying that since companies have a delivery charge then they consider that our tips. All that makes the whole "Tipped Employee" thing seem completely unfair. Not that its the state doing that..but they made the law to where companies can pay us under minimum wage and get away with it. Talk about cheap ass employers. Shit, we should be getting paid hazard pay for as dangerous as it actually is to be a pizza driver. Also if insurance companies new that we delivered pizza they would jack our rates sky high and some will even drop us and say we need commercial insurance. All for under minimum wage.....really?

going to those in charge of making certain labor laws are enforced is futile. i went to the wage and labor board several times - proof in hand! that my employer was threatening to fire me if i did not claim tips i han't made, because my weekly income did not meet the minimum wage requirment. nothing has been done... besides, tips are a gift from a private individual who has all ready paid taxes on that money - why are we paying a second tax on it anyway???

To those of you who have threatened to mess with people's food, you make me sick. I have waitressed, and believe me it is not a fun job. But I have never, ever thought of putting something in someones food or drink. The fact that you even threaten it on here will not change anyones minds about tipping. You are supposed to give the best customer service, whether it is a frequent great tipping person or a regular who barely or never tips. Yes, it does make me a little mad, but I have other problems to deal with. As far as posting the addresses of the "non-tippers", that shows no class whatsoever. I'm sure that at least one of those posted will be notified that their addy is on Topix, and I'm sure that you will be notified by your boss. It's not that hard to figure out who you are.

Yes I will agree with you...people who tamper with others food by putting shit in it...should have the shit beat out of them. They should have there teeth kicked in to where they cant chew there own food anymore. Now as far as the non tippers address....I dont think its wrong....because at least now other drivers know not to expect anything at all no matter how good the service is to that address and that there just wasting there gas. As far as the people trying to get that person fired for doing so.....that person no longer works there so it doesnt matter. Also, its NOT ILLEGAL, its sharing information anonymously. Its not like she gave out there credit card information or anything. Weather or not you know it...your tips help pay for our gas, maintain our vehicles and help us to even make minimum wage...which we do not get. Just read what she said above, the GOV says we make 10% on cash orders and 15% on credit card orders....and even if we dont make that...we still get taxed on it because the Gov. says we should make that....on EVERY order. Sorry but a Dollar we get from the store....in which customers bitch about...the delivery charge...isnt nearly enough to keep our vehicles on the road in which we need to provide a SERVICE to the customers. Our checks have to go for everything else....and are barely enough to even pay our bills. Needless to say...we rely on you customers to help us financially so that we can give you the best and fastest service possible. Also, getting tips helps boost our moral. Happy employees give you great service. |

I never said I'd do anything to anyone's food! LOL! People who are that paranoid should really make their own food at home. As for the addresses I listed, I doubt those people are on topix. And if they are and they saw my posts, well they at least know how I feel. I had a very bad day and I felt that venting on topix was better than telling people off on the front porch of their million dollar home while their annoying dogs claw at my shins and nip my heels and they slowly write me a check for the exact amount. Either way, the job wasn't worth the stress and aggravation any longer. But at least now the information about what drivers make and what the job costs is out there. Maybe more people will tip better.

All the bartenders in our restaurant make 2.13 per hour plus tips. WE DO NOT MAKE MINIMUM WAGE!! We continue to do this job because we like the people we work for and I give 110 percent to my guests and my employer. It makes me sick how entitled people think they are for "free" service. And before anyone says the employer should pay us more and the crappy tippers shouldn't have to make up the difference with tips; if my restaurant started selling 25.00 ribeye steaks and tripled their beer and drink prices, you then couldn't afford it and would stay home or go fast food instead, right? YOU CHOSE a FULL SERVICE restaurant, so pay for it!!??!!

If you sit at a servers table for more than a reasonable amount of time (i.e. watch an entire football/basketball/baseball game or having an office/coworker/family get-together) you should tip way beyond the standard 15-20-25 percent. Think about doubling it because they could've made that amount or even more if that table could have "turned". Keep in mind a server and bartender have a limited anount of seats/tables to make a living and their income is not the 2.13 per hour. They pay their taxes with that. My last paycheck was 0.00 and the one before that was 4.35!! If you choose full service, pay for it please!!

Totally agreed. I went to 4th st tonight and tipped everyone that served me.....even the bathroom attendant that gave me soap and towels. We people who make under minimum wage such as the bartenders, servers and pizza drivers in most cases depend on your gratuity...a minimum of at least $3 since the cost of living is so high......to even make a decent wage. We appreciate it...and you tipping makes us appreciate your business and makes us want to serve you more.......even better the next time. We remember people who really take care of us...as do we remember those who do not. |

If you worked for me you would be fired for posting the customer addresses. Recieving a tip is a privilige and not a right. Your rights include choosing to get a diffrent job no matter what that takes.I enjoy tipping the people who serve me well and usually leave a generous amount but that is my choice.I am sure some of the people you deliver to feel the pizza is already over priced,or if they had more money to spare they would go out for something better to eat. Maybe resturant owners should be required to pay a regular wage ,raise the food prices to cover it and forget tips. I am curious as to whom you tip ? Mailman,servers,barber ? just wondering. |

If restaurant owners were required to pay a LIVING WAGE -- more than minimum wage -- I'm sure you would be standing at a counter ordering your ribeye steak, carrying your own drinks to your table and waiting for your number to be called. You then would be carrying your own food to your table on a plastic tray with plastic dishes. If your food isn't just right, you'd have to carry it back to the counter to be corrected. Your drink refills would be taken care of by YOU, any condiments would be collected by YOU, and YOU would be carrying your own tray full of dirty dishes and uneaten food to a trash can near your table. Your napkins wouldn't be linen, your silverware wouldn't be "silver", your dishes wouldn't be chinaware, your view of one or two tv's nearby would be partially blocked by the persons sitting right next to you, so close that you have to take turns getting up to get your own stuff. The generic florescent lighting and crappy music would make you hurry so you can get your own to-go box and get outta there before the migraine sets in..... as you leave be sure to glance around and see the lone person wiping tables and stacking trays while their coworkers are acting like robots behind the counter and at the grill. Wait a minute, this sounds alot like fast food. If I hadn't mentioned the ribeye that was ordered, this could be any fast food restaurant. The job of a server and bartender to take care of all your needs and requests in a timely and professional manner as well as great food and atmosphere come at a price -- a good tip -- this is what YOU CHOOSE TO PAY FOR when you walk into a full service restaurant. You chose to go there to begin with and it must be understood that I am trying to earn your money (duh) each and every time you are my guest. If I work my ass off for you and yours and my coworkers are doing the same to give you a top notch experience, how dare you not pay me to be your professional server/bartender. Those of you who DO tip me well for my above and beyond service with a professional yet fun attitude are very appreciated and I'm SO glad you are there. I will remember you and strive to earn that good tip every time. Those of you who don't, my coworkers and I know you and do just enough to take care of business. Your drink may not have that extra kick of alcohol or your beer mug may not be the coldest one in the freezer. You also may start with light ice in your tea or your soda so I won't have to bring a refill if at all possible. Your food order may not be turned into the kitchen right away unless I'm wanting you to eat and go so I can seat a good regular there. My fake smile and insincere small talk might give me away that I really can't stand the sight of you but I will still do what it takes to keep my job and stay outta trouble. I will also whisper to my coworkers about your non-tipping ass and also tell some of my regulars about you as you drive away in your nice $40,000 car. Sometimes, nothing needs to be said, the look of disgust as I look down at your credit card slip or go searching the table for a tip says it all. Go suck up a fast food table for free for a couple of hours and leave my barseats and tables for those who appreciate me like I do them. If only I could say this to your face without losing my job. I guess I'll have to wait and win the lottery since I don't see my old ass going for my bachelor's degree! I do feel a little better getting this all off my chest and I only hope it helps more people empathize and maybe prompt their friends or family who are cheap asses to leave a proper tip!!!

To anyone that might ask, "I wonder who all you tip". As a sever of the food industry I know the golden rule of a quality tip. I tip EVERONE WELL that does a good SERVICE job. This may be my hair dresser, bartender, server, pizza delivery driver, chinese delivery driver, a punctual mail man or women, well in general anyone in the industry of service. A tip may not be required, but is obveious one is required for good service. If you do not tip anyone that services you, you are a cheap ass.

What makes me really sick is when these people that do not tip expect for you to almost be right at your side. They run you like crazy and then leave nothing. Give you attitude when everything is perfect. Like you are beneath them. What they do not realize is that half the time they are treating us like we are ignorant some of us have degrees, working on degrees, or have high IQs. We are there due to circumstances such as our children need us to be more available. Many other reasons that I have seen. We are there to make the experience more enjoyable, not there to be humiliated. I feel if you use my table and my services I should be paid. Not too long ago a table of six came in and they had four children. While they were there my regulars came in that sit at that table. Six of them and they leave me ten to fifteen dollars always. When the ones with the kids left I had piles of food on the floor and nothing. Sometimes I would love to wear a sign saying "If you want to sit in my area pay accordingly."
|
||||
|
I don't care who you are, how many kids you have, or what your income is. If you cannot afford to leave a 15% or more tip for good service and more for above and beyond expectations, you should not even walk into the door of a full service restaurant. Go to the carry-out section of the restaurant and take it home if you're jonesing for some of our great food.

1 what your actually saying is that you only do the job you were hired for at it's best when you know you have a good tipper ?. You have it wrong girl,you do the job the best you can do it,you treat EVERY customer the best way you can and hope for the good tips. If you do that right you will do ok.With the attitude you have you need to work at mickey D's. |
