I know it must have taken its toll on you.The next thing on my mind is, why the sudden urgency to look good or be sexy, as you say? Is there someone that you hope to entice with your appearance? In my experiences being "sexy" is more a state of mind than an actual physical thing. I know several women who are not just drop dead gorgeous, but are smart, funny, and above all, very confident in themselves. They always say,"If you look good, you feel good". Is it possible that because of your history of illness and generally not feeling good, have you believing that you dont look good? This is right up with doesn't she have a great personality. The same people that say money doesn't matter also say looks don't matter. Usually because they are short on both accounts. Start with a new haircut, style, etc. and get the works with nails. Then get a light makeover and some new perfume. Start with the basics as a first impression is very important. The Dr. Phil advice will only leave you with plenty of time alone to watch his show!

Grim, you've got me curious. I've known people who lost their parents in concentration camps; Hid from the Nazis in an out-house; suffered various tragedies and health crises; were victims of brutal crimes/injustices/abuse, etc. Yet I don't ever recall any of them bemoaning the fact that they've had a hard life. I wonder what your life must be like, if you say you've had a hard one?

Just about everyone on this earth has had a mix of both blessings and tragedies in their lives.

I think, too, that being sexy is more a state of mind- not something that can be counterfeited by merely going through the actions or dressing the part. One either has it or they don't. I think ones attitude and outlook have more to do with it than anything.

I think it is more important for one to just be themself. If you're not the sexy type, so be it. Faking it isn't going to work. Being content to be just who you are will do you a lot more good than trying to be what you are not.

This is back to the Dr Phil idea. If you look across the room and someone is not "fixed up" that is not sexy. Your comments are on target after you meet or get to know the person but a first impression is very important. If you don't look sexy, with that first eye contact, you will be left at home watching Dr Phil. If you want to get out and be seen and admired...you've got to look good from a distance. I think it is called sex appeal and that is why there are so many beauty aids.
