They would have saved a lot of grief had cruise ship management arranged to airlift a bunch of port-o-potties, like they have available at large outdoor events in the States.

And just who was going to service and pump them on a ship? Those things are GROSS. Outdoor events require them but the organizers always seem to forget to get them serviced so they are nasty and overflowing by the end of the first day and you're wading in urine and feces the second. Those people walking in sewage on the boat were no worse off than people at a carnival,outdoor concert,or any other open event.
