Rogersville has gone to shit

[Needs change]

I used to really love this place but as of late, it has completely went to the dogs. The drug infestation is unreal. Parents have given up on their kids. Kids are having kids. There are barely any jobs. It just really makes me sad. I think DCS needs to be a little tougher or start having these women and men sterilized when they hit puberty. There needs to be a change somewhere.

Dcs takes the kids that are taken well care of and leaves the kids that need to be taken.i used to love rogersville i grew up there.but lately i hate coming back there to visit its gotten bad.but it seems like everwhere is just as bad if not worse.

I am sure it's going on everywhere but it seems like Rogersville just turned around so fast!! You can't swing a dead cat in this town without hitting a drug addict or teen mom.

I do not believe the town has gone to $41t, I just do not see any growth. Yes we have walmart, and when it arrived smaller companies were forced out, so no that is not growth. Until we have a mind change that gravitates toward the future and not pulling from the past , this is what I see us being stuck with. Number one, we should become a wet town.

LOL,thats what we need to do.Bring in a package store so we can get drunk to celebrate no jobs,no growth and the continued downturn of our little town. Agreed ! The failure to instill the values of good citizenship, respect for the law and the basic tenets of the Bible articulated in the 10 commandments, in the next generation, is a huge reason we are where we are as a society. There is NOTHING more important (or more difficult) than the raising of kids.

As an outsider soon to be insider. (I'm moving to Rogersville shortly) I can say that you find drugs and teen parenthood wherever you travel. The problem is the country as a whole has become desensitized to just about everything. No longer are people of the younger generations scared to have sex without protection because in their minds there is always a back up. They are never scared to commit a crime because they think they can get away with it. The reason I can say all this with conviction is because I am only 20 years old and I see it myself. I however, was raised fairly traditionally, scared to death of my father whooping sense into me and making my mother cry. I do think that people my age and younger are heathens and need to be reprimanded more at an early age. Parents are too afraid to punish their children because DCF will come steal their children. So children are allowed to tell their parents to shut up or else. And let's face it, Maury Povich can't fix them all.

why are you such a stupid asshole? would you really like to know?
you went to school where you were taught to fear and to obey. be cheerful, fit in, or someone might think your wierd. people can be perfect, people can be trusted. one day, i will fall in love, a nice quiet home of my very own, free from all pain, happy and having fun all the time... it never happened... did it?

That really did not make sense at all. I am a very happily married woman. My husband is kindest husband you could ask for. That has nothing to do with what I am talking about.....at all. I am far from an asshole. I care about the community and have realized that the youth have no morals these days. The parents let everyone else raise their children these days. If you haven't noticed this, then you aren't around the majority of the kids nowadays.

I hope parents aren't waiting for Murray and Springer to fix their brats. They will be dead by then. My kid back talks me, not in a playful way but dead serious, I will point out the fact who pays for food and board. Keep in mind most of these feral kids were raised by mall kids, turned loose in the mall at nights or weekends by parents needing to do other things be other places than be with their kids. Parents would rather their rude kids be rude in packs elsewhere than at home slamming doors, blaring music. Imagine the kids these teenagers will raise.

Kids today have no fear. No fear of their parents, they might get grounded OOOH. No fear of their teachers, they might get a demerit, kept after school, detention or suspended OOOH. No fear of the police, I'll get a smack on the wrist or Juvenile Hall OOOOH. No fear of GOD, no conscience, no guilt, no remorse. Yes people our children are fearless. They know that they can do whatever they wish and there is nothing the parents can do to stop them. If the parents try to correct them the parents will end up in jail and have to go to court and prove why they were justified in whopping the crap out of little Johnnie's behind.

The problem is there are to many people out there who do not know the correct way to spank a child, they go over board and hurt them. I spank mine, but I don't do it in anger its hard sometimes but you have to count to ten. I give him two warnings on the third he gets a spanking. He knows this and most times don't push it. But at times he does.(he is only 3)The main thing be firm and consistant (sorry Iam not the best speller please for give me)You can not spank them for it once and let the get away with it the next time. People don't teach children right from wrong, they are to busy.

It's the home's failure period. It's not the cop's job to raise anyone's kids. If you had them you need to raise them not throw them out in the parking lots every weekend do they can harrass and agitate everyone actually doing buisness in the stores. As far as the courts go, yeah I think that sometimes some of these "ground hogs" get off lightly, but other times they don't. It all starts in the home, if you don't teach them to respect others don't be surprised when they don't.

This is true to a certain extent.The teen pregn. have been there for years and years and so has the drinking and town cruising. The biggest reason for this is the old people in this town will let nothing come in for the youth. Yes you have a bowling alley and a movie theater but this accounts for quite a bit of money over time that alot of people just don't have. If Kids and teenagers are not involv ed in a sport or someother kind of constant activities, they have way to much time to find alternate activities. They need a good, safe and supervised place to hang out with their friends! This is what teenagers do wheither it's at a supervised party, Ministered group gathering, Parking lot or backroad!!!! The growth of drugs is a whole nother horrible story but don't think for a minute that the reason I gave above has nothing to do with it because it does, it's the root of it! Now, it's just grew and grew to a much higher level.

Why do you say the old people in this town won't let nothing in? Who have they stopped? And what was stopped? Wake up and smell the roses son. The PEOPLE of Rogersville like you won't support local businesses. Wonder if the bowling alley and movie theater wish they had gone somewhere else???

I was wondering about this myself. I was not aware that there was some vote taken among the old timers in Rogersville about wheether or not something be let to locate here in Rogersville. I see this same claim made here time and time again but other than places selling alcohol BTD, which would have no effect on kids anyway, there is no such a "Vote" taking place.

Why would any buisness want to come here? Drive through any parking at night. Thug and trash on every street coner. They are like roaches when the light comes on they all scatter hunting cover.
