Did you stay up all night typing this garbage. You must be superman to have done it all on your own.
You are awesome. By the way, topix wont let you type any punctuation in the name bar. Who cares anyway? This isn't formal writing. It's just for fun so I can get your panties all in a bunch. If you were so smart you would have it figured out by now and have had some fun with it. Of course you knew that since you are so smart and perfect.
Curiously you leave the off the last name of your sign in now, it has nothing to do with punctuation, you SPELLED it wrong. By the way I wear thongs so you don't have to worry about getting them in a wad. If you want to have fun go back to your NPR, ridiculing people instead of engaging in a debate isn't fun, it is just a person showing a certain lack of intellect
Not superman but worked for what I have achieved in my life, my education came from my desire to learn and the support of my family, I had a few good teachers but the ambition was mine and what I did not get in school I got on my own. I can understand how you would be unfamiliar with this strategy of improving ones self as it appears that you have been just as happy as me being an underachiever. You are obviously one of the weak minded ones the unions spend so much time protecting. They know the weaker you are the more they can influence you to follow whatever stream of thought they want you to follow. There are leaders and followers, leaders lead and followers get run over by those leaders going to the front to get whatever job needs to be done, done. I would hate to think how many times you have gotten run over by hanging around the back of the pack waiting for someone to tell you what to do. Typically they probably tell you to get out of the way.

Sick leave, not vacation. No teacher is paid for summer vacation unless they take a summer teaching assignment.
Wrong again!
You Baba are wrong. Why do you insist on getting on here making a fool of yourself. Read the contract, after one year teachers get 1 week vacation, after 2 years, two weeks, after 7 years they get 3 weeks and after 14 years they are afforded 4 weeks vacation. READ, no where do I mention their three month off during the year other than outlining their 180 day work year. The rest is vacation. Also READ the contract and see how their sick days add up, not medical leave, sick days. Because of the lack of information you and others receive and will not got out and get it on your own I will make it my crusade to ensure better knowledge of what our tax payer dollars are used for. Not sure how yet but when I get the avenue you will be one of the first know. Sounds like people like you could benefit from instruction more so than your children, you obviously have no knowledge about the subject you are writing to defend. Fail to prepare, prepare to fail.

Hello, Rev John Burch,
You really are an arrogant dork. It's funny how you know so much about this teacher contract resolution. No, they do not get paid for vacation. leave is negotiated into the contract and is usually part of the retirement package upon retirement. It allows teachers to buy a year using accumulated leave. Its funny I've never seen someone so obsessed with teachers contracts. You must be an ex wife or husband of a teacher? or just bitter that you didn't get the job way back when? You are no leader. You are just bitter. I think its funny how you try to sound so intellectual. It's very transparent that you have a serious inferiority complex. You're the fool. Bye bye and get a life.

Something else those bozo teachers get in Edwardsville is that the supposed teachers share of the pension contribution is actually paid by the district so when you look at the teachers salary add about10% to it. That was the board can say they are holding down costs, but in reality they are not. Thats the Edwardsville way though and the greedy lazy teachers love it that way

Brian, John, Baba,
Aren't you all greedy? I think it is in everyone's nature to try to earn as much money as they can. Just look at pro athletes and trial lawyers. They earn lots of cash and if you think it doesn't cost you because it isn't a direct tax you your nutz. Unless you don't watch sports or go to a doctor etc. I don't blame any of them. It is what it is.

Well Baba, are you happy now that Illinois has had their credit rating downgraded primarily due to under funded pensions. Do you finally get why people such as myself, Brian and Blue Dish are passionate about this issue? What and incredulous attitude. The subject of this topic actually asked what we thought about the teachers strike and you come around and ask why we are so interested. You start all of your posts with character assasinations that miss thei mark, you call people names and expect to be taken seriously. People should be more concerned about union contracts, especially public sector unions. Don't try to insult me by calling me Rev., my family history is comprised of Native Americans, Farmers and Reverends, all of which I am proud of. You need to understand that just because you see a therapist for whatever complex you may have does not make you an authority on someone elses. You assessment of me or my mental state therefore makes no difference to me. Honestly, you make no difference to me, the extent of my compassion and care is limited to me, my family, my job and my faith. When somethig or someone from the outside attempts to attack any of those that I hold dear I will defend them and myslf vehemently. Call me what you please, it only serves to dsplay your ignorance. From what you have written you obviously are in the union, represent the union or obtain your living in some other way that requires no responsibility on your part. Welfare maybe? Do all of us that are trying to make our community better and hold those that we employ through our tax dollars accountable and blow smoke in your inflatable.

Eric, Greed is an excessive desire for something and is linked typically with money. What Brian, myself and most likely your parents do is try to make as good of a living as they can to suppot their family. The greed comes from the multitude of people taking more than their share. Welfare, section 8 housing, food stamps. Many peopledo need these programs but there are many, as I am sureyou ould agree, have just found it easier t live off the system rather than work. Even if they ae capable. The union, in this case, was expecting more and more from a community and school dristrict that had already provided so much for them. I am certain that i two years when the contrac comes up again it will be the same. As for the athletes, yeah they may make more than what we would consider an aveage wage but that is what they have negotiated and the sponsors, ticket holders and ownership make those decisions, not the tax payers. When the tax payers end up buidling or rebuilding stadiums that is where revenue considerations come in and the tax payers voice must be heard. In the medical profession, I really don't want a minimum wage doctor operating on me but that is truly what it is devolving into with government insurance. There is greed in the world, in our country and in our community but for the most part people are just trying to stay ahead and provide for their families, it becomes diffiult when so many others want your money.

Baba, Had to rewrite a few things, lest you find another way to attack my character. Keyboard was faulty and didn't express my true sentiment and there were several areas of poor spelling that may not have made things clear. Most of those you can still figure out, there is a true assumption of intelligence, but the one sentence I wanted to ensure you understood was this. Do all of us attempting to make our community better and hold those employed by the public sector being paid by our tax dollars a favor and blow your smoke up your inflatable. Favor was left out. If you cannot seem to pull your head out of your rectal area at least do yourself a favor and add a window so you can see where you are going. Get involved instead of getting ignorant.
