Been in Home Depot the last couple of days. The workers I asked for help did not know where anything was and wandered off to go chat with other workers. I asked an employee about stair stringers and he was clueless. I am really missing the hardware store that was where Sams is gonna be. Sadly i cant remember its name but only remember the help was excellent and got in and out in minutes. Anyone else feel the same?

Try 84 Lumber. I used to work there at the granite city store. They are great with training and customer service. They don't hire clerks. They hire people that they believe can run a store, in time, and that is what they train for.

That's unless things have changed drastically since the mid 90's, which is possible.

ANother one I used to work for was RP Lumber. I didn't like the store manager, but the people that actually do all the work know what they are doing.

I know there's not much difference, but I seem to have better luck in Lowes when it comes to getting help. HOWEVER when possible (their stuff is more limited) I love ACE Hardware. I've never been to the one in Troy, but the one it Highland greets you when you walk in the door with "hello, what can I help you find today?" (or something like that). You tell them what you're looking for and they tell you the isle number and send a worker to help you without you even asking. I've never had to search for anything in that store, they are always there to help.
