My friend divorced his wife over this guy. Mr Harmon had an affair with her while he himself was married. Mr Harmon was seeing my friends wife while she worked at Jacksonville Airport in onslow county. The Richlands police department stood security there. She is now a flight attendent and they both live in Topsail beach. All this had taken place within the last two years. Good luck with this guy! I wouldn't trust him. Watch your wivies around this guy.

First of all it's apparent that "Ken" gets a cheap thrill out of bringing others down. I have known Mike Harmon on a professional and personal level for five years now, and I have never known him to be a "womanizer" as Ken indirectly mentioned by stating "watch your wives around this guy" which by the way Ken, there is only one "I" in wives. Mike leads a morally straight life both in his law enforcement career and in his personal life. Something that readers need to be aware of, is that just like in most professions that involve public relations and "public trust" if someone thinks they know something about one's character that will make them look bad to the public they serve, they will jump on the opportunity. Ken couldn't be more wrong about what type of person Mike Harmon is. Second of all, being a third party involved and only getting one side of a dramatic story it's not Ken's place to comment on "his friend's divorce". Ken I am sorry that your feelings for Mike are not good ones but after all that is what makes this country so great, in that everyone is entitled to an opinion. But the citizens of Aurora and Beaufort County need not worry about their new police chief. He is of sound mind and good moral character. I have in the past and I still would today, trust my life in his hands!! Congrats on your accomplishment Mike!!

How much were you paid for that comment? You obviously don't know this man! Yet you say that you've known him for five years? Then you must also know that the blonde bimbo he’s been seeing for the past couple years was married? Maybe you should check facts first before you open mouth! I am aware of this situation! Not sure how much this Ken guy knows, however, it appears that he is on target with his comments. I do not, however, agree with posting it on the web, it’s none of Kens'(if that’s his real name) business what goes on with other peoples’ relationships. I know Mike, and what he did was wrong. He didn’t exactly keep it a secret when he was fooling around with this girl. If you don’t want people to talk about you, then you shouldn’t give them something to talk about! I apologize for openly replying to these comments on the web, but it is out in the open now anyway.
Peace.

As a member of the Law Enforcement community, I can't believe a Chief of Police would be as unethical as Ken says Harmon has been. However, I feel that this story holds enough validation to warrant an investigation to make right any said rumors. If the accusations hold merit, I suggest we start looking for a more respectable representative of our Law Enforcement community. After all, how embarrising would it be to work for a man who is later scandalized as having an extra marrital affair. Know this, if he's done it once, he's done it before, and most likely going to do it again. We should make certain of the claims put here before us.

I think if Mr. Harmon has committed Adultry, which is a felony, he should not be a Chief of Police. His morals have a lot to be desired. I feel sorry for the citizens of Aurora to have to be exposed to a criminal who is not experienced in the field of law enforcement. His under cover work has a different meaning, other than drugs. This reputation has an effect on the peoplr he associates himself with. His trust and credibility is questionable. He has apparently snowballed the town commisioners like former chief Steve Williams did. Need help in Aurora NC.

Adultry is not a Felony in the State of North Carolina it's a class 3 Misdemeanor which is the lowest misdemeanor you can be charged with. Not saying that makes it right, but before you start making comments about laws in a man's state...you might want to check out our General Statutes!! Stay in California and mind your own business!!

North Carolina, marriage has
been viewed as sacred, valued,
and worthy of protection. By
abolishing these two laws, the
State’s policy will shift
dramatically away from this
principle to a position that
does nothing to protect
marriages from third party
intrusion.

For hundreds of years in North Carolina,
marriage has been viewed as sacred, valued,
and worthy of protection. By abolishing
these two laws, the State’s policy will shift
dramatically away from this principle to a
position that does nothing to protect
marriages from third party intrusion. No
longer will an aggrieved spouse have any
legal recourse against a third party who,
through wrongful and malicious acts, breaks
up their marriage. No longer could a third
party be held accountable for their wrongful
and malicious acts of interference in a
marriage and for committing the act of
adultery.
The State’s policy toward third party
intrusion into marriages should remain
absolutely clear—that such interference will
not be tolerated, and if an individual does
pursue someone who is married and
wrongfully and maliciously breaks up their
marriage and/or commits adultery with
someone else’s husband or wife, they can be
held accountable and liable for their
actions. These valuable laws of alienation of
affection and criminal conversation should
remain intact.

Felony or not, Mr. Ignorance, it's wrong!

you people have nothing better to do than put history lessons of the value of marriage, and make jokes on this man. If you have something to say about his personal life or the way he lives, why dont you comfront him!! stop talking like he's not around and talk to him face to face like grown adults instead of like children!! you people need to get a life and stop worrying about what other people do, if there is someone out there who does not make mistakes, i'm sorry if I have offended you!!

He is a cheater, and a criminal, yet you defend him. I suppose Aurora has got what they deserve. Keep this in mind though, you reap what you sow. Mike Harmon should be incarserated and as for the second or third parties involved, you haven't a clue. We aren't making these stories up, this is the truth. Simply investigate the matter. Ask his "X"-wife, or the blonde bimbo, or better yet, ask the husband who lost his wife. This is the truth, so let the truth be told. Hey big billy, don't down play this with idol threats. Keep this serious and lets make right the wrong of appointing this man Chief of Police.

Informed and Third party prospective, what is wrong? Your the same person, is he still holding a threat to you to back him up. It is sad to say we all know his scandal. And yet you still defend him. Maybe it wouldn't be talked about so much if he himself and his girlfriend (or fiance)didn't make it public themself. Are you going to defend the time he beat up this hispanic male cause he couldn't speak any english? What he couldn't wait the whole five minutes the translator was coming. It is almost like he can't pick on anyone his own size. Also I think it is kind of funny every car he use to pull over there was a drug arrest made. Pretty shady to me. How is it, that is is okay for him to call his girlfriend who by the way was still married at the time, all day at work? Do you realize how many times the girlfriend and him got caught messing around or how many times you wouldn't find them on their shifts. Maybe you don't see behind the lies he's told you. Anyone to defend this man is just plain silly.

His history speaks for itself, and someone should look into it. Mike Harmon should not be the Chief of Police. A letter SHOULD BE forwarded to the local news media to investigate. I guarantee you the outcome won't be pleasant.

Let me begin by saying that you can believe none of what you hear and half of what you see. However, I am a person very close to this situation and I can attest that nothing about it is pleasant. If you are a good friend of Mr. Harmon than you must know the situation and to say that you don’t means one of two things, you are either a liar or not a very good friend indeed. I have watched a good man and a good father along with a couple of good kids have their life turned upside down because of Chief Harmon. Let me be the first to say that I know nothing of law enforcement or of what it takes to be a good Chief of police. What I do know is that it takes questionable morals to be a home wrecker or an adulterer. A person in his position cannot afford to be one who succumbs to temptation. This can only bring trouble and corruption to department that sound like it needs a good house cleaning. Unfortunately I believe that you have only thrown in more dirt.

I live in the town of Aurora and if we would have elected a mayor that was runing to help our town and make it better than to just prove a point and now run us in the ground we would still have a good chief of police Mr. David Arthur. He was wrongfully fired and steve knows he did wrong because that is why he didnt run to be re elected. I dont think this cop will be any better than steve just for the simple fact of who is hiring him, the same people who let David Arthur go and supported steve. I guess since steve wouldnt run for the position they will find anyone "like him" to fill his place!

Point of Right is completly correct! Mike is not or has he ever been an upstanding morally correct human. The town of Aurora has made a very poor choice and I am afraid they will pay dearly for it! Maybe they should look into Mr. Harmon's background a little closer, taking time to examine his moral character and the past course of his actions.

People in that community need to wake up and smell the dumpster sitting at town hall. these people stood up for and ran on the platform soley to get a liar his job back. they want to cut employees pay, fire the attorney...... They fire a man because of who he isn't,(they said he did nothing wrong) The town has to pay legal expenses, unemployment, etc. What experience do the so called police commissioner have, expect his little buddy the "seal" or actually a quaker. The old chief is still running the police dept., the town, the rec dept. Has anyone auiddited the rec department lately, been check your wallets people and keep an eye on your spouses, and make sure you have plenty of insurance if this new guy is hired for lawsuits.
