I can't help the welfare people. What I can help is that the members keep taxing us that can pay and doing more on the thought it is make up for the ones that don't pay. Then we are in trouble. That is from their own words. We raised the taxes because of so many on the ones that don't pay taxes.

I can see that one cannot reason with drained taxpayer. If as you say, some people have higher property taxes than their property is worth, they need to go see the PVA. Anyone can go in and question the value they have assessed, and I know personally that they have changed a few. Also, I have asked you to comment about the ones who draw welfare and refuse to work and you ignore that. Perhaps, you are on welfare.
I do not see where drained taxpayer said anything about taxes being higher than the property is worth. The tax just imposed on us has nothing to do with higher property value; it is a higher rate on the value. Our property is still valued the same as before but we now get to pay a higher tax rate on that same value to offset the one's that do not pay their fair share. The PVA sets the value- not the rate. The RATE is what increased.

Maybe not selfish but ignorant to the fact they are levying more taxes on property even to their own children's disadvantage. Yes the board members are not doing what they should be doing and that is making sure the kids are educated and the taxpayers are getting their money's worth. At the rate the school board taxes the next twenty years when kids get out of school and they raise taxes every year like they have done in the past. Their are putting the taxes higher than some property is worth. I don't know a soul on the school board either and you are correct. They are taxing their own children into oblivion also. That is why you can't have the mentality like the article in the paper saying we have to pay more for the ones that don't. Let me tell you know. There are becoming more and more that don't. So maybe in the future they will consider not taxing and start tightening the belt in order to protect our children from crushing taxes.
Notice above: "Their (They) are putting the taxes higher than some property is worth." I agree it doesn't make sense but that is what he said.

I stand corrected. Thank you. I think that may be the words that were written but not what they meant to say. However- I can and will when I am wrong I was wrong; I had not read that sentence correctly.

Thanks, Edmonton. It's so refreshing to see someone post on Topix that says something sensible and that can write an entire paragraph with no misspelled words and complete sentences. I would never complain about school taxes. That's our hope for the future. I do get sick about paying taxes for able-bodied people to not work and draw a check each month. I'm amazed at those couples (not always married) who, one or both, get disabilty checks but have no problem having babies. The man often works more physical jobs than I could ever do, but, of course, he gets paid cash. Come on, drained taxpayer, complain about this instead of school taxes.
I would support this argument!

Have fun paying your taxes suckers, I done figured it out I set home draw check, get food stamps, live in HUD house that all y'all working stiffs pay for. I do work and do odd jobs that pay cash, so I don't lose my check or have to pay taxes. Then at end of yr I get 5000 dollars back on my income taxes for my child exemptions. Thanks so much taxpayers.
