Kids' Stuff In Shoreline and Lake Forest Park

The Seattle area has a high reputation for activities for kids of all ages and all seasons- zoos, aquariums, childrens' museums, art schools and all, but what about Shoreline and Lake Forest Park specifically? Shoreline bills itself as family friendly and we have an excellent public school system to back the claim.
I just moved to the area, and am having a hard time figuring out things to do with my 9 yo. here in LFP. It doesn't help that the Mountlake Terrace Rec Center is closed, but is there anything to do around here?
