Island within an island

The last time I was in Edisto was maybe 15 years ago. Close to the State Park, there was a little side road we travelled down a ways and came to a house where some guy, for $2, would give you a boat ride over to what he said was another island. You could find all kinds of shells there...the place was great. He'd come pick you up a few hours later. Does anyone know who I'm talking about, and if the guy still does it, where he can be found. An old local had told us about him back then.
Thanks in advance for your help.

yeah that's Ron Elliott and as far as I know he still does it. You go down Botany Bay Road and at the end there's a sign with his phone number on it, its a place called Mear's landing. He could have taken you a couple of places but you probably went to Otter Island. You might enjoy doing something similar but different... may I suggest shrimping with Capt. Jimmy Bell, its a blast.

The price went up to 15$ per person and you can only bring back one gallon of shells per person. Ron hasn't changed much in fifteen years. have fun!
