Missing Edison teen turns up safe

A 16-year-old Edison boy, who was the forcus of an intense overnight police search, has been found safe in White Diamond diner in Linden, authorities said today.

Kevin Song, who left his home barefoot shortly after midnight Monday morning, was found in the diner about 8:45 a.m.

Police had been seaching for Song since 12:30 a.m. when his parents reported him missing, authorities said.

This morning, the vice principal at JP Stevens High School in Edison, which Song attends, received a tip that the student might be a White Diamond restaurant, Edison police Sgt. Robert Dudash said.

Police checks several White Diamond restaurants in Union County, and Linden police found in the restaurant there, Dudash said. He said the youth was in good health.

It was uncertain how Song, who has a medical condition, got to the restaurant.

Edison police are expected to question the youth to see why he left his home and what he had done and who he had been with during the night, Dudash said.
