I was a little embarassed to find this out.My relative Parker Wickham who died in 1785 was assumed to be a Loyalist. General George Washington sent his spies to bid on Parker's property seized by New York through an attainer. The properties included Robin's Island, the Cutchogue house built in 1649, and other land. England compensated Parker for his property loss so I wondered if the USS Chesapeake captured by the British in the War of 1812 was sent to the Parish of Wickham to be turned into a mill for that reason.

I have read that Mr Landon one of George Washington spies that bid and won some of Parker Wickham's properties had a grandchild that married a Wickham an so the property ended up in the Wickham Case Family.
