My mother mentions life in Cuthbert everyday of her life. She grew up on Orange street in a house built by the, then, constable of the town, Greenberry Hairbuck. She was raised by her Grandparents, and shortly after her birth, by her grandmother, Annie Elizabeth, in a life fitting of a storyline by Mark Twain. The depression life style formed helped to form her values which have been handed down to her children and grandchildren. The town of Cuthbert is forever alive in the hearts and minds of the Ezzards.

My Mother is still talking about Cuthbert everyday of her life. She speaks often about the library which was built during the depression. She loved playing at the depot and on the sawdust pile down the tracks at the saw mill. I feel that I have lived in Cuthbert from listening to her stories.

Thank you, Bluffton. My mother is now 94. She still talks about her grandmother and her life in Cuthbert. Their home was built by her grandfather before the turn of the century on Orange street, one block from the depot. Her g'father was the constable of Cuthbert, Greenberry Hairbuck. He died in the early 20's and her grandmother had to raise he five children alone. She then had to raise her grandchildren due to sorry parents. The home was turned into a boarding house to supplement the income made from doing sewing, raising a hog every year, having a mild cow and growing all their food in the garden in the back yard. What a woman. She never turned away a hobo during the depression and she worked from before sunrise until dark cooking, sewing, tending chickens, etc. With an example of such an adult in her life, it's little wonder that my mother is the strongest, most moral, hardest working person I have ever known. She's also very tough and blessed of God. Annie Elizabeth Hairbuck was my mother's grandmother. She is buried in the cemetery there in Cuthberh.
Thanks for reading.
