1 The Act is 1,428 pages long. I strongly encourage you to read every page. By doing so, you’ll get an education in political science, economics, and history that will be better than a PhD in these subjects. You’ll not only understand how nations destroy themselves from within, but you’ll also understand how politicians like Waxman, and the people who elect them, are turning the U.S. economy into an economy of high-paid consultants, lawyers, lobbyists, and apparatchiks. At the same time, these great intellects bemoan that high-paying jobs for working stiffs are evaporating. Connecting dots is not their forte. The Act can be found at: http://www.opencongress.org/bill/111-h2454/sh... Warning: You’re going to find a lot of gobbledygook like this: (b) APPRAISER CERTIFICATION AND LICENSING REQUIREMENTS.--Section 1116 of the Financial Institutions Reform, Recovery, and Enforcement Act of 1989 (12 U.S.C. 3345) is amended-- (1) in subsection (a), by inserting before the period at the end of the following:“, and meets the requirements established pursuant to subsection (f) for qualifications regarding consideration of any renewable energy sources for, or energy efficiency or energy-conserving improvements or features of, the property”... Such gobbledygook will ensure that thousands of young Americans who might have pursued careers in science or engineering will instead pursue careers as gobbledygook interpreters -- as lawyers, consultants, and bureaucrats. It’s hard to imagine that a sane person would want to attend college for four years and then law school for another three years in order to spend his life deciphering the meaning of a confusing clause before a period in subsection (a) of 12 U.S.C. 3345. Speaking of sanity, it’s impossible for a sane person to read 1,428 pages of such tripe and still be sane afterwards and know for sure what the Act says. In any event, the following is what I think it says about your house. It says that the federal government, in conjunction with state and local governments, will set environmental standards and building codes for residential homes. Then, any major renovation or planned sale of a house will trigger a report to the authorities on whether it meets the standards. Such information will be maintained in a national database and reflected in real estate records, including titles and property tax records. In other words, if your house doesn’t meet the standards, this will become public information available to prospective buyers, who would have to be as stupid as Henry Waxman to buy a substandard house and risk the possibility that the government will someday force them to bring it up to standard. The Act’s language doesn’t preclude that possibility. The good news in all of this is that your home will still be your castle. The bad news is that if it doesn’t have thermal windows, a reflective roof, thick insulation, and the proper appliances and heating and air-conditioning systems, you’ll be living in it until you die, unless you can afford to bring it up to the standards in order to sell it. |

1 Hey, stupid... everyone is losing their home in record numbers, blacks, white, asians, hispanics ect..., since everyone were the ones who got in above their head during the 2002-2006 boom years. Foreclosures have affected everyone serverly and home ownership is at its lowest since 2001. So if you only look at only blacks of course the numbers declined. If you only look at whites, of course the numbers declined. Sorry to burst your racist bubble but you fail this time. Tell Stormfront to try harder next time because anyone with a brain can see that. |

1 Nothing like seeing your suburban house value go up in smoke thanks to these suburban city councils easing housing code use. It is so nice to come home from work seeing ten cars in the next door driveway, fifteen people in a single family house sitting on taxpayer funded Minnesota welfare all day. |

1 So true. It appears they think these inner-city scum have a right to tax payer dollars to be able to live in the burbs. There is not ONE documented case where the building of Section 8 housing has INCREASED home values in the burbs. They have all gone down. |

1 It's not a new thing, governments in decline that are failing and weakening that have no core principles like adherence to equal treatment for all under a Constitution always revert to a primitive appeal to tribalism, where politicians set the tone for bureaucrats to divide the citizens along racial/religious/class/languag e, you name it. It's one of the common hallmarks of totalitarian regimes and it's been going on for far too long. But it's not going to change any time soon, because it's human nature, and that's something no government can overcome, despite all their stupid laws and favoritism and political bullshit. All governments can really do is make their subjects look over their shoulders while whispering for fear of going to jail, take away their money and property, then throw them in jail. Welcome to American Government 101, 2009. |

3 http://www.businessandmedia.org/articles/2008... Are journalists playing favorites with some of the key political figures involved with regulatory oversight of U.S. financial markets? MSNBC’s Chris Matthews launched several vitriolic attacks on the Republican Party on his Sept. 17, 2008, show, suggesting blame for Wall Street problems should be focused in a partisan way. However, he and other media have failed to thoroughly examine the Democratic side of the blame game. Prominent Democrats ran Fannie Mae, the same government-sponsored enterprise (GSE) that donated campaign cash to top Democrats. And one of Fannie Mae’s main defenders in the House – Rep. Barney Frank, D-Mass., a recipient of more than $40,000 in campaign donations from Fannie since 1989 – was once romantically involved with a Fannie Mae executive. ..more.. more at businessandmedia.org ... ---------- Barney only loved him for his fannie... |
