“This will be hard for the community”

A 25-year-old Harford County man was fatally shot yesterday in an Edgewood neighborhood that has been rattled by a string of violence in recent years, authorities said.

After receiving calls of a shooting about 2:30 p.m., sheriff's deputies found Samuel David Horne, 25, lying in the parking area in front of a row of townhouses in the 1800 block of Brookside Drive.

Horne, who lived in the nearby 1800 block of Grempler Way in the Watergate Village complex, was found with several gunshot wounds to his upper body, said Sgt. Christina Presberry, spokeswoman for the county sheriff's office. He was taken to Upper Chesapeake Medical Center in Bel Air, where he was pronounced dead. Read more

If you read with comprehension you'd understand that the murder took place at 2:30 p.m. that's the middle of the day. Every life is important, he was loved by someone/s.

Oh, and by the way, it's great to hear that you live in an area with no crime, honest citizens, a virtual Utopia. Sleep well.

so you're saying that he's just another flunky from the neighborhood and the world is a better place now that he is gone? i guess i was right on my first post, negating the time. i'm glad to hear that someone who had it coming to him actually got what was coming to him.

FUNNY THING IS I JUST MOVED TO EDGEWOOD FROM BALTIMORE COUNTY (WOODLAWN)That area is GOING TO PITS.Actually I stayed with a inlaw in the projects for a few months until my dream house in Edgewood deal got done.I tell you one thing.I felt more safe in the projects than I do in EDGEWOOD.At least I knew all the criminals in the City.I'm sorry I moved my family to this place.Maybe I should have watched the news more but I work 15 hours a day.Boy looking from the outside this place seemed so promising.I guess I never should have went house shopping in the winter time.Soon as it got hot the crime and thugs came out.I can't tell the difference from East Baltimore from Edgehood. What a shame a bunch of 16 to 25 year olds with no future no dreams nothing to look forward to but gang banging and drugs dealing. My neighbors say where I actually live it's safe in the single family homes however everyday I get off work I have to drive by Crookside(aka)Brookside and see another Edgewood murder victums grave site. The scary thing is it's only Aug.Who will GET SHOT/KILLED NEXT IN EDGEWOOD YOUR LITTLE CHILD GETTING SHOOT WHILE PLAYING OUTSIDE YOUR SON YOUR DAUGHTER YOUR WIFE YOUR HUSBAND?????????

dealing with gangs is easy. you just kill the gang members. the people who live there know who they are. look at the neighborhoods where the mafia hung. the people who lived in that area never had to lock their doors. forget about asking the police to do it. are the police stopping the problem now? the wrong people get locked up when the get police involved.

You have no right to call another man a flunky nor judge him on what the media says. You didn't live that mans life or know his struggles. You prbably never even been to edgewood nor would you be able to survive here with that kind of attitude. So please keep the slick talk to yourself. have a wonderful day.

People who say he deserved it and is a flunky. keep the slick talk to yourself. You cant judge another man and you didnt live his life or his struggles. maybe he did take the wrong path. But thats between him and the big man upstairs.

Well, I feel that life is precious whether we believe it is deserved or not. I have known Shadow for a long time and just like you and I there are people that we don't care for and don't care for us. And i personally thought he was a sweet person; his funeral has not yet even taken place and he is being bashed. God has called this young man home and for whatever his reason is it has to be a good; for either earth or heaven that judgement is up to him. So for all of those who have nasty comments to say and don't even know this man; Life is not promised to you either.

sometimes people do things because the world is so messed up. it does not matter if we are black or white. but we as blacks need to stop killing each other. that is what most of the white folks want. if maryland would put better paying jobs, more opportunities instead of wasting money building up unnecessary stuff maybe it would take some of the people off the street. some people can be helped. not all people are bad and the ones that are may just have it bad and don't know where to turn. i myself do not like to judge people so i give them the benefit of the doubt. the worse person in the world can still have that kind heart underneath. you just never know. i don't want to blame somebody else for the actions that others take but to me if the world was a better place, some of this would not be happening

changing the subject slightly, racism in america isn't about color and culture. it's about economics. ever wonder why black people are treated like equals in other countries like england and canada but, not here. here's the reason. ever hear the saying "the highest paying jobs are in the shortest lines"? keep this in mind and i'll get back to that. in the other countries, socialism keeps everyone equal in that if you lose your job tomorrow you have a safety net. in america, we don't have much cushion. our safety net is our job. if the lines to our jobs gets longer, our salaries go down. this goes back to the highest paying jobs are in the shortest lines saying i mentioned a while ago. now, go back in history. when black people were emancipated in 1865 there wasn't really any jobs but farming and lawyers and politicians and local merchants. but, when the industrial revolution began, many more low paying jobs were created. now, the white people of the early 20th century weren't getting all that much money and if the black people filled the job lines than their salary would go down. white people were much more concerned about their salaries going down by black people standing in their lines than they were about color. this still holds true today but, on a much broader scale. we're going global and that means more people in our lines and salaries are going to go down.

as much as you all hate roger, he makes some valid points... he may not be the most compassionate human-being i have ever encountered, but he's objective and realistic. it's sad that a young man died - it's unnecessary and an absolute shame, but if you look at the big picture, roger seems to be the one with the unbiased perspective, and that's how all of this gang/racial/drug-related violence needs to be approached.. keep on pissin' people off, roger.. it's entertaining in the least..
