To every single person that wanted that child removed from school, I think you are disgusting and reprehensible.

One of you said "If it was my daughter I wouldn't ask everyone else to change their lives." Yes hell you would.

SO basically what you people are saying is that child should not be able to live a normal life like everyone else because you have to send some form of peanuts in your childs lunch. There is no world without peanuts? Your child will die if they don't have peanuts at lunch?
You people are IDIOTS!!!

That child has a life threatening allergy to peanuts and it would not kill you people to simply not send peanuts to school.
WHy should that child have to live a secluded life so that your child can eat peanut butter and jelly or some other food with nuts in it like a candy bar. Your child does not HAVE to have something with nuts in it.
How about this how about feed your child any of the other billion things you can for sake of keeping another child ALIVE YOU IDIOTS!

Every person who protested should have their children taken away because you are too stupid to have them.

Unbelievable, this is why people call southerners stupid, stuff like this.

You people are actually trying to force a child into seclusion for the sake of your kids eating peanut butter. You are disgusting and you better hope that if your child's life is in danger that they are not in the hands of people that are as ignorant and selfish as you are.

I'm from NJ and I find your opinons ignorant and reprehensible, so back at ya!

If you READ the story, the parents are protesting the continual distraction of EVERY KID in class having to wash their hands and rinse their mouths out multiple times a day, thus taking away from the time they actually spend in the classromm.

Public schools are there to educate children, and if one cannot function within the natural environment to the extent that their presence dinimishes learning opportunities, then that child should be placed in a school equipped to handle special needs. It is not incumbent on the rest of society to bend to the needs and whims of one individual. It is incumbent on the individual, or, in this case the parents, to ensure their child's safety and well being by seeking alternatives. They should not expect EVERY OTHER PERSON to adapt just because their little snowflake has a condition that presents a threat to their health. This kind of attitude is 'entitlement' at its worst.

You are obviously a prototypical moron from NJ. The kids are required to wash their hands when coming into the classroom and then again after lunch, something they should be doing anyway. Rinsing out a mouth takes what, 20 seconds per kid?

I'm wondering by your spelling and grammar if you ever even went to school. That or you were drunk or on crack (or both) when you wrote your rambling, illogical drivel.

Why don't you have some compassion for a kid who can die if exposed to nuts? Are you too stupid, or were you abused as a child? Probably both moron.

You have proven my point with more spewing ignorance coming from your mouth.

Do you actually believe for one single second that these children having to ....wash their hands and not eat peanut butter or nuts in school is interferring with their lives and education? You feeding your kids muts is more important than that little girl being secluded from school and a normal life?
There is no other food that you can feed your child in order to keep another child alive? You care so little about humanity?
Ok so if there is a bee hive on the playground and your kid is allergic then rather than destroy nature, your kid should be homeschooled instead right?

If you have children they should be taken from you.

You are an idiot.

By the parents trying to mainstream their child, they run a real risk of accidental exposure. That's the first point.

The next is that the child stands to be ostracized by her peers due to her condition. There will be unkind names, teasing, and a spectrum of other cruelties that children can mete out.

Third, the expectation that every single student, teacher, staff member, and custodian have to make special arrangements for the kid's entire public school career is unrealistic.

The child should be in a peer group where her condition does not diminish her learning experience or those of her classmates.

You all want to see the world through the eyes of this child's family. I choose to view it with a dose of reality. Here's a clue: Life is not always fair. This child has a life threatening condition, and that sucks for her. Like it or not, she needs special attention, and public schools are not the place for her to receive it.

And what happens if she's exposed and suffers? Are you on board with the parents inevitable lawsuit?

You sound like a parent of a child with a similar condition because your emotions are clouding your logic.

Again, if you read the article, you'd learn that the parents of the other children are concerned about that very thing. How many elemaentary school claases do you know of where the students have to gargle three timews a day? How about the threat of disease transmission to every one of them? How is that fair to them or their families?

The bottom line is this child is a distraction to ALL OTHER STUDENTS in the class. That alone is the reason to seperate the child from the rest of the class. This is a common sense solution to a potential tragedy, nothing more. When the chid grows up, is the whole world going to change to accomodate him / her? I hink NOT. Life is tough, buy a helmet.

100% agree. I can't understand the attitude. It makes zero sense to expect the world to change to suit the needs of one person. Unfortunately, some people hsve become so selfish that they EXPECT everyone else to bend to their needs.

My son also has a severe allergy to peanuts. The school that he attends is a peanut free school, we do not have any parents trying to cause an issue. I think they realize that if it was their child that attended there they would want them safe as well. Peanut allergies are fast growing among younger children, banning nuts from the schools would be a great answer. There is an article about the FAA banning peanuts on all commerical flights, because of the danger of peanuts on peoples lives. The people that are saying negative things about this would change their minds if their child suffered from this. Its not something we wanted for our child, but it is something we will have to deal with.

I simply cannot understand where you come off with this air of superior intelect because you have a child with a certain affliction. Do you honestly think that the world will change it's ways to accomodate your child's peanut allergy? If indeed you think this, you are a fool, and you are raising your child to think he / she is entitled to special treatment no matter where they go in this world. Not realistic in the slightest. You of all people should know just how many products contain peanuts. It is YOU who need to adapt to the rest of society.

Do you realize there are more and more children with this allergy.
Lot's of schools are going peanut free.

Is it wrong for this child to attend public school?
The inconvenience of hand washing and mouth rinsing is just TOO MUCH?
Please.

The parents should be glad they are washing up so much, bet that class has less absences from doing it.

The children are also learning some valuable lessons of tolerance, compassion and unselfishness.

I know exactly what I am talking about. I do not have children in k-12, but I have a son attending VMI. When my kids were in K-12, special needs students were put in classes with other special needs kids. It is common sense. Why should the learning of 29 kids be effected by 1 kid?

How can you possibly justify saying that something is not fair to you if it means that you can't send nuts to school? Are you seriously violated by no being allowed to send nuts to school if it means you are not risking someone else's life? Especially a child?

Furthermore your entire argument does not hold water because kids find reasons to tease other children, if we kept every child home from school that had something about them that might target them for teasing then there would be no children in school.

Your entire point shows just what kind of a disgusting human being you really are that you want a child secluded from society so it does not inconvenience you from sending nuts to school with your kids.

You should have your children taken away from you if you have any, and furthermore I think that you are a selfish disgusting person if you really are arguing that saving a child is an "inconvience".

What would you do if your child came down with this allergy tomorrow? take them out of school and separate them from society?

You sir are an idiot.

Your emotions are now causing you to level personbal attacks against me. The logic of this is simple- if you can stop ranting for two seconds. The child's needs exceed the school's capacity to ensure her safety. The precations that were taken were- as (roughly) quoted by a school official,'A little overboard'. Even the school admits that the other students' class-room time was compromised.

I admire your passion in trying to defend the child, and I couldn't care less if the entire school becomes a peanut-free zone. But even if it was, there are too many accidents waiting to happen, such as a candy bar, or a bag of potato chips that were made in peanut oil.

So I ask once again- Who do you know personally that shares a similar condition?

Let me paint a picture. The family of this little girl wants to take her to WDW. Are they going to demand that Disney remove EVERY Uncrustable from EVERY menu? Are they going to demand that anyone who consumes a chocolate nut brownie from the Main Street Bakery go around the corner to the restroom and gargle? Are they going to demand that every restaurant cease using peanut oil? Is Security going to confiscate every PB & J sandwich from guests' bags? What about every ice cream shop that offers nuts as a topping? How about closing down the Spirit of Alohs show since 80% of the menu is seasoned with peanuts? How about every bottle of suntan lotion with coconut oil?

The answer is 'no'. No institution that deals with the public can make absolutely sure that this child's health can be protected from an anaphalactic reaction.
