It's still there just a different owner and it's now a private club. Good folks ABOUND in their midst. I can say this with certainty.
I would be willing to bet there's not too much stupid B.S. that goes down around there any more because of these folks. I used to live at 3971 High Street between W. Alexis & W. Charlotte Streets from '87-'89. Not a very good time to be raising any kids in that area. I used to deal with someone I knew personally either being shot or stabbed almost every week.
Matter of fact, the FIRST MONTH living there, I got shot at on 2 separate occasions while walking home from EHS because I was walking down the sidewalk at the corner of 5th Street & Salliotte that was occupied & controlled by a local hood-rat pusher. I was later told he didn't want ANYONE on that corner unless they were there to see him for "business".(Needless to say, I found a different way home after the second time. Caught hell from my parents over it because they wanted me to walk the most direct route home along a street with sidewalks. Once I explained that the 1st shooting was NOT an isolated incident, they said, "You do what you need to do to get home SAFE."
Have a good one & STAY SAFE!!!
