<quoted text> Ask your friend if they remember the Old Black and Gold Hockey Jackets. What color where the arms on the jacket and what material?..And if you would,Ask if they have any old team hockey pics. Thanks!
I just started reading this blog for square one so these qyuestions may have already been answered.

Black and Gold Hockey jackets, sleeves were gold and leather, body of jack was black and made of wool I think. The house hockey teams were the Pennsylvania Club, Democratic Club (I think) and i can't remember the 3rd team.

These years are guessimates.

Bantam division in 1965-1966
PeeWees in 1963 and 64
Squirts in 61 and 62

The third team was the sponsored by the American Legion. Some of the coaches were Bob Hellar's Dad, Regis Enright, John's Dad, Lloyd Flurry, Richie Kovalchick's Dad,(don't remember his first name)

I just finished reading all 450+ comments on this forum and just want to add my comments and observation.

Whoever started this forum did so for the sole purpose of allowing people to tell of their memories of growing up in Ecorse. AFor those who want to make political statements please go to the other forums that that are available for that purpose. I grew up in Ecorse and use my real name, not an alias as some do because I don't have any ties to Ecorse other than my memories of growing up there.

I learned on this forum of the passing of Eddie Rich. I grew up with Ed though he was 3 years older tna me, we were on the Varsity Hockey Team for the 1967-1968. I was the lone freshman. Ed could be one tough cookie if you got on the wrong side of him but he alsways treated me kindly. I heard from others still living in Ecorse and the Downriver that Ed lived a tough adult life. To his family I offer my deepest and most heartfelt sympathy for your loss. For those that made unkind comments about him they have shown that they are the scum of the earth with no self esteem and have to hide behind aliases.

My memories of Ecorse include ice skating at the outdoor ice rink. Shoveling the snow off of it before school so we could practice Varsity Hockey. Meeting my childhood girlfriends there and holding their hands while skating in circles. Then walking them home afterwards to get that good hight kiss. Jill Comerzan (still married to Dave Marcott), Carlene Gibson, Sonya Heskett (had a brother named Dave), and Vickie Lalonde.

Frankie's Pizza was the best I ever had, Cuingan's Shrimp House had the best shrimp and escargole, the A&W Root Beer stand had a great Reuben Junior sandwich, Taco Way (I think that was the name) on the corner of 7th St. and Southfield had the best and greasiest tacos. Pulaski Club' perch and frog legs diners on Friday nights for us Catholics. Carter's, Poremba's and Imogenes for a great breakfast.

Dave's Pool Room where guys like Teddy and Lanny Elswick, Bobby Cress, Big O Oscar, Dale Thonpson, Roger Forney and his brother, Harry and Billy Tsermengas, Bob and Dennis Paterson, Eddie Rich, Dave Andring played pool and snooker and played Greek Rummy at the back table

To Tell me Why,
Yes I remember Al Marco he went to SFX, Mike Parker and I went to SFX from grade 1-8 Parker's his older brother Louie was a Firefighter with my brother Ed in Ecorse. We also use to go to his Dad's Lake House on Black lake in the summer. Tom Bedo was also in our class, John his brother a Firefighter too. John was also an All State football player for Bernie Popps at SFX. Tony Granelli I don't recall, tell me about him.

To Tell me Why,

I forgot to mention Marty Monks. Marty also went to SFX and his Dad Red was a close friend of my Dad and members of the VFW. They lived on Ridge Street. Marty's older brother Kenny was my sponsor for Confirmation and became an Ecorse cop.
