If the FBI is in charge of the negotiations with Dykes, as has been reported, they are obviously playing a dangerous brinksmanship game with the life of an innocent boy.
Jimmy Lee Dykes has all the cards in this game so far. Evidently all he wants is for the world to know why he is angry. Grant him his wish and likely the boy will be released.
Every day this scenario goes on, an innocent child suffers and has his life placed at risk. Permanent damage may have already been done to the boy just due to egotistical secret FBI agents who think they know all the answers.
Do you want another Waco or Ruby Ridge in Alabama in 2013?
Governor, have the guts to order the FBI out of this and provide the media with the 3 page letter Dykes sent to you and the media above.
Direct the local Sheriff Olsen to allow a top reporter to enter the compound and take the story of Dykes without any conditions. If you do this, the child will very likely be released. If it fails, your conscience should be clear.
Playing a brinksmanship game with the life of an innocent child is not a very intelligent act and will weigh on your conscience a long time if the foolish strategy fails.
What do you fear by allowing the public to learn the truth of why Dykes did this? Why the secrecy?
While Dykes is wrong in the way he has handled this horrible situation, he must have very strong reasons to do so. It appears you and the FBI are playing political games with the life on an innocent child because you seek to continue to hide the real claims of Dykes which caused his anger and frustration in the first place. Shame, shame, shame on you and the FBI.
What good is all that fancy military and human fire power against an innocent 6 year old child being held hostage?
This is the beginning of the sixth day Gov. Bentley. Time is running out. How long can a child with medical problems hold up under this kind of pressure? Sometimes even government must admit defeat and surrender their egos.
"It is not what a lawyer tells me I may do, but what humanity, reason and justice, tell me I ought to do." Edmund Burke
An innocent child who just turned 6 is suffering Governor Bentley. How about demonstrating a little courage and gumption to act to resolve this horrible situation? Why do you assume the FBI knows more than you and the local Sheriff about resolving this standoff?
