@marty. you dont have to find one in your state you can hire one where they do want to work with you on a case. i am in va and it is a commonwealth state where the state is for the employer not the employee. and i couldnt find not one lawyer in va. none of them knows what a great challenge and how they can win if they have knowledgable people telling them that you all can use thier policies and procedures against them. they only use the sop manaual and hand book only when it benefits them. i got a lawyer and i got my unemployment by fighting them with their own policies. shame shame on them. also you have to do a appeal in person hearing to win it. first they will listen to only the company. but you can take your evidence there and they can see it in person. there are some lawyers about three pages back that might can help you. two of them. my name on here should be still mad at dollar general after two years. and email [email protected] she may be able to answer some of your questions and help you. good luck and thank god you are not working there anymore. i was a manager and i loved my job even with the long hours and i have been in a state of depression for two years.

I am still in this to help bring them down, I just got back from Vacation, and found out that the Chick that was the key holder, and the other girl that was just a part time cashier is now the key holder and the other girl is now the Asst. Manager. HMMMMMM., Either one is not even close to being at the positions. I still believe I have something here, and do have others that want to come forward on a class action suite, for the mistreatment that has been done, please help advise on the process we need to take

Mr. Hays is in another state, but if he takes your case HE will find an attorney in your state to represent him. That's how hiring out of state attorney's works. E-mail him at [email protected] he will at least listen and advise you on what you could possible do, especially if your injury was work related. Hope this was helpful.
kennacatts and I are working together to make DG see that there is a better way to treat their employees.

Broken hearted,
I am so sorry for your loss. It has to be hard on you, loosing one so young. And you do need to keep your job to help you stay sane. But on your days off it might be wise to be looking for another job. DG is a heartless company who will now be looking for a reason to fire you. Stay on your toes and watch your back. And be sure not to get hurt. They will be on you like starving wolves if you get an injury. So be careful. And if you find that things sre getting better it's because you have an angel looking out for you. Good luck and God bless

I am truly sorry for your loss! No one can imagine what it is you feel unless they walked in your shoes. They can't fire you that goes against fmla act. As for the position unfortunately this company has done so many people wrong like that but my question is why was you doin the job & not bein paid the pay rate for it? Why are you training this guy if that isn't your job? We all need the jobs we have but if you think about it they are gettin a higher paid job out of a lower paid person. Where is the fairness in that?? If you let them walk on you like this they will keep doin it & even add more to your duties cause they know they can. Begin to look for another job or get to know what your states laws are so that you can stand your ground & be able to put them in their place.

@ broken hearted, i am so sorry for your loss, there are no words to describe the feelings. you are on the right page here all these people are kind and helpful. we can sympathize with you about dollar general. believe me, they can and will do anything to you that they want no matter what the policy and procedure is. if you spoke to every one on here or read thier post, you will see dollar general is heartless and cold and that they have done broken all of thier policies and procedure thier own self. they dont want good people working for them, they only keep the thieves. that is so they can write the loss off on thier ever growing profits that they could be putting toward thier good employees as incentives or appreciation for all thier hard work. one day we will have our satisfaction. while you are there, get a handbook to keep at home, if you can print out the sop manual or the book one. copy all paperwork that you do. schedules too. get a notebook, keep a copy of everything done by your or them dates times and have you a backup plan. i know you can do this and i know you will be a happier person working elsewhere where they give you the respect and appreciation for the valuable person you are. good luck and stay with us.

Just be glad you have a job. Move to better things. Some of you who have degrees can go elsewhere that will actually support your education. Let's face it...Dollar General is not the end of the line.

Who are you to judge these people? What you need to do, is realize DG is a crap company. They don't care about any of their employees. All that matters to them is the bottom dollar. Are you one of those brown nosers who do their dirty work for them. Or one of those insecure people who are afraid that someone smarter is after your job.LOL Either way, you need to back off the people who have been screwed by this incompassionate company.

I work for a trucking company that hauls for dollar general. I have no idea what the roll tainer weight limit is but know many are loaded over one thousand pounds. Take three of those plus the weight of the driver it well exceeds the three thousand pound weight limit for the trailer lift gate.
There is no reason that the roll tainers should be loaded that heavy. Dog food and liquids can be on the bottom and lighter items on top. These top heavy or just plain heavy roll tainers are a deadly accident waiting to happen.
During my orientation the fleet manager more or less told me that we get two cents extra as a safety bonus or Anti Workmanship Comp Bribe.
The weekly salary they quoted me is un obtainable unless you break DOT HOS regulations. If I am going to bend the rules a little I need to be making more money than what they quoted me.
I don't plan on staying here any longer that it takes me to bet buffedk. I can say this job will put you into good shape. I lost two inches off my waist, put three on my chest and one on each bicep in just three weeks

Cindy,
Hmmm ok be happy you have a job ? I was happy I had a job. I got HURT while I was happy doing my job. I was also HAPPY while I was recovering from my work related surgey as well . I was also HAPPY when I was returned to work 5 days after surgery on norcotics,,,,,, o belive me I was HAPPY then very HAPPY. I was also HAPPY when I had to take my own" week vactaion" time to recover after this surgey. Guess what! I was also HAPPY I never missed a day of work after surgey.
Now listen closely! I became unhappy when I started getting harassed while recovering from surgey. I had a DM who came in and told me if felt the need to follow my doc orders and my Workmen comp orders I would be looking for a new job .I also became unhappy when I was told to unload and stock a truck by my self because my store hours were cut ( mind you, I had shoulder surgery). I was also unhappy when I was told to scrub my office floor on my hands and knees while the DM watched and laughed.
Now Listen closely again! I became MORE UNHAPPY when I re-injured the shoulder trying to do what this complete JERK had me doing because he was holding my job over my head. I have now had 3 surgeys , and limited use of my arm .
I find it funny HOW you can come one here and tell people to be happy they have a JOB ..... GUESS WHAT I was HAPPY I HAD A JOB .
It's people like you who have no clue what goes on in these store and you assume It's the BAD employees who are on here because we have nothing better to do ? Yep ,, your right I have nothing better to do because I CANT USE MY FREAKING ARM.
Now Cindy,I suggest you read some more these post and see how people have been treated( the hurt)workers for one. YOU GET HURT you get FIRED you get harassed, pretty simple. I have talked to people who have been told to work on Cruches, I have talked to people who were made to work with broked ankles, I have takled to people who have broked bones in their necks from falling boxes,I have talked to people with broked wrist, I have taked to people with back injuries. THEY were all made to work while hurt , and once they could no longer work in these conditions they were FIRED. They now have to fight for treatment.
SOOOO Cindy get your facts straight before you tell anyone we should be greatful we had a JOB .
How would you feel ? You would be on here alos as pissed as hell . I wish you no injuries where ever you work and if you work for this compnay DO NOT GET HURT because I would have a hard time helping you like I have helped most of the other on here.
Now have a good day. You want to call me disgruntal? Nope , im way past that at this point! I amd straight freaking pissed and hurt.

well ding dong, i was happy too. all three years of being a store manager with a great store and crew that i built. but when it comes time to let people go, dollar general will find a way to get rid of you. if you are working for dg, you will know how we feel one day. maybe soon maybe later. now that i have nothing to lose, I WANT YOU TO FEEL LIKE WE DO. AND REALLY NOW. IF YOU ARE SO HAPPY WHY ARE YOU ON THIS PAGE. GOT TO BE SOME GOOD REASON YOU ARE LOOKING. and this is not just one store it is all over the united states. so dont judge us, we are not complaining to you, this is our page to find help and to ask advice or just have someone who has been thru the same thing or similar. if you are not looking for any of the previos, then why are you on our page. i mean golly, come back soon and you can tell us all about your lil problems.

sorry to hear that. hope everything gets better for you. the thing i found out is money is all good and it keeps you comfortable in life but health is better to have than wealth. i cannot see why i gave my life to a crappy company and loved the job so much and give up every day all day long seven days a week just so they can throw me to the garbage when something happens to me. wow. thanks dollar general you taught me a good lesson. never ever think that you have job security. it aint so.

Hey Pottymouth,
Be careful or they will find a reason to fire you. Like most of us, after we were injured. And it can be something really stupid or conjured up. Just watch your back.

Shawna,
I totally enjoyed the challenge of my job also. I honestly hope you never get injured. Because your attitude for this company will change. Right now all you have to deal with is DM's pushing you to basically run the store alone. Get injured and watch how fast they give you help. LOL... Help to push you out the door.... They will nitpick your ever move to find a reason to terminate you. Even make things up. So my advice to you is to be careful and don't get hurt. And don't complain to much or the same thing will happen. Running a Dollar General store is not a bad job. Corporate is the problem, as you will see, if you ever have an injury.
Best of Luck to you.
