Re: Courier-Post Editorial ‘Ali Sloan El betrayed Camden voters’ trust’– July 19, 2006.
July 20, 2006. I sent this letter to the courier-Post, but they wouldn’t print it, I wouldn’t if I were them. So I sent it to the editorial page of the Philadelphia Inquirer hoping to get the message out. I really wanted the Courier-Post to know just what I thought of their editorial blasting Ali Sloan El. But the Inquirer wouldn’t print it either. But, I thought, I have plenty of paper…. TO THE COURIER-POST: I don’t think much of your editorial, really. I was more surprised at how quickly you rushed into print your attack on the very character of a man, whom you yourselves most recently championed. It was very reminiscent of vermin distancing themselves from a sinking ship. I wonder - will you desert his cause also? Will you quit the battlefield when the first casualties are suffered? I wonder how quickly will you will rush this letter into print? As for his replacement, does it really matter? One thing we know for certain is that, like most officials in Camden’s government, he or she will be hand-picked by the ruling authority, that many-tentacled enemy of the people. We see now that we must be more resolute, but not reckless. More far-sighted, expecting our enemies to retaliate. We will suffer casualties along the way, but should not leave them on the battlefield like carrion. From their mistakes we learn our enemy’s wiles and devious ways.... let us remember our wounded for their contributions to our cause. Despite those unfortunate issues which led Mr. Ali Sloan El to resign, I do not feel let-down, as you expected. I don’t feel at all like quitting. I feel emboldened, knowing that he was attacked because he was dedicated to the cause- and they slyly used this zeal against him. He was feared. They say it takes a real man to admit to his mistakes. Mr. Ali Sloan El says that he never used a dime of that money for his own personal use. I believe him and I, unlike you, Courier-Post, will not deny him. JEM |

Courier-Post staff CAMDEN -- Former Camden City Councilman and community activist Ali Sloan El, disgraced when he admitted accepting a bribe from a contractor who was working undercover for the FBI, was sentenced today to 20 months in federal prison. Maybe you might want to reevaluate your entire perspective! |

I am truly saddened by what has happened to a fine man in the City of Camden, I have walked hand and had with this man in the streets to support a group of senior citzens who were being re-loacted from their home, because some one had more money to give the powers that used to be in Camden, Sloan El only did what he did to continue his work and get reelected. not to buy a mansion in a nearby town, or for that matter out of the state..... oh yes the powers that used to be live out of state... We will never let you down Sloan El, take care, Champ

i have a personal thing that happened with Sloan El that is funny to me and i had to post this. i did business with him and sold him custom shirts for his personal reasons. the point is that guy paid us with a check from a muslim school's funds for personal reasons (thats a no no). then the shit bounced and he paid us a week later with cash. i had to just say that.

but i dont have problems with people keeping Camden down, which is what sloan el is doing. Camden is the county seat of Camden County. it is purposely kept poor to control votes and keep them low. so as for your uncle, i meet him and he's a cool guy, but people like that need to be jailed or barred for politics. and i was born and raised in Camden.
