U.S. Seniors Have Realigned With the Republican Party

Seniors move from a reliably Democratic to a reliably Republican group
U.S seniors -- those aged 65 and older -- have moved from a reliably Democratic group to a reliably Republican one over the past two decades. From 1992 through 2006, seniors had been solidly Democratic and significantly more Democratic than younger Americans. Over the last seven years, seniors have become less Democratic, and have shown an outright preference for the Republican Party since 2010.

Your macabre cheer leading for the death of elder citizens is both heartless and futile. The over age 65 population and its growing GOP support is an INCREASING population, not one that is dying off.

Your ignorance and hateful prejudice blinds you to the reality. Here, do some reading on the trend before you embarrass yourselves further:

par·don
noun
1.
the action of forgiving or being forgiven for an error or offense.
"he obtained pardon for his sins"
synonyms: forgiveness, absolution, clemency, mercy, leniency, remission

By agreeing to make Bush immune, he offered clemency. Both are pardons, or forgiveness.

Bush violated US Code. I posted the code one page back. He could have been arrested and prosecuted here, or turned over to international authorities (the Hague).

But, I am glad you have finally given up the contention that Bush isn't an admitted international war criminal.

That's progress.

Arms-smuggling Democrat Leland Yee spoke at Obama campaign headquarters, said Obama gives hope to those ‘cynical about politics’
03/28/2014

The California lawmaker indicted for arms smuggling and corruption endorsed President Barack Obama with a speech at Obama’s presidential campaign headquarters in San Francisco, and said that Obama delivered a message of hope for those “cynical about politics.”

State Sen. Leland Yee was arrested Wednesday for corruption and for conspiring to funnel weapons, including shoulder-fired missiles, from a Muslim separatist group in the Philippines to undercover FBI agents in exchange for campaign donations.

The undercover agent who discussed the arms deal with Yee presented himself as a member of a fraternal organization headed by Chinatown gangster Raymond “Shrimp Boy” Chow, who was also indicted as part of the investigation that snared Yee.

Chow was recognized by Sen. Dianne Feinstein in a 2012 statement as a former offender who had become an asset to his community.

Report: Obamacare premiums could cost the young 14 percent of income
03/28/2014

The Affordable Care Act may not be so affordable for younger workers.

Premiums alone will claim 14 percent of the average 30-year-old’s income in Illinois, American Enterprise Institute analyst Scott Gottlieb writes at Forbes.

Actually using any health care services will eat up even more cash, including a deductible that’s $5,000 for most plans and a $6,350 out-of-pocket maximum.

Gottlieb looked at four states: California, Texas, Pennsylvania and Illinois. Pennsylvania had the lowest rates for Obamacare health coverage, with an average annual premium payment of $1,620 for someone who makes $20,000 per year, with a $600 deductible. But making just $5,000 more per year skyrockets the cost up to $2,328 in yearly premiums and a $4,000 deductible.

For people who are young, healthy and unlikely to use health care services regularly, the cost of Obamacare insurance is prohibitive.

UN author says upcoming climate report 'alarmist,' pulls out of writing team
March 28, 2014

One of the authors of a draft United Nations report aimed at helping governments reach an international climate agreement has pulled out of the writing team, claiming his colleagues were being too "alarmist" about the threat of climate change, Reuters reported.

Richard Tol, a professor of economics at Sussex University in England, said he disagreed with some findings of the summary to be released later this month in Japan, where scientists from 100 countries are currently meeting to edit and approve the report.

"The drafts became too alarmist," Tol told Reuters, acknowledging that some other authors "strongly disagree with me."

The draft says economic growth and poverty reduction will slow down and global food prices will rise between 3 and 84 percent by 2050 because of warmer temperatures and changes in rain patterns, according to documents obtained by The Associated Press.

Reid Denies Making Videotaped Claim that Obamacare Horror Stories Are 'Lies'
March 28, 2014

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) said Wednesday that, "I have never come to the floor, to my recollection, I've never said a word about examples that Republicans have given regarding ObamaCare and how it's not very good."

"Mr. President, the junior senator from Wyoming has come to the floor several times recently talking about the fact that examples that he and others Republicans have given dealing with ObamaCare, examples that are bad, I've called lies. Mr. President, that is simply untrue," Reid said.

As CNSnews.com reported, and as C-SPAN video of him shows, Reid said on the Senate floor:
"We heard about the evils of Obamacare, about the lives it's ruining in Republicans' stump speeches and in ads paid for by oil magnates, the Koch brothers. But in those tales, turned out to be just that: tales, stories made up from whole cloth, lies distorted by the Republicans to grab headlines or make political advertisements."
"There's plenty of horror stories being told. All of them are untrue, but they're being told all over America."

Fox News. It is funny.

And the science is pretty settled. There's a mountain of evidence on one side and none on the other. And forwarding the notion that pumping 27 billion metric tons of a greenhouse gas into the atmosphere and the deforestation of millions if acres annually has no effect on climate is pretty dumb. Even the most delusional science denier agrees with that.
