Training is a good thing. For what kind of jobs are the unemployed being trained to do and where are the jobs in Somerset County? Government can't mend the unemployment problem directly. They can lower taxes, drop plans for carbon control, drop the thosands of other regulations, break the union monopoly, and just stay the hell out of the way of businesses large and small.

As Ronald Reagan once said "Government is the problem".

Yup, RR said it, de-regulated, and let Wall Street bring us to the brink of a depression while they got six-figure bonuses. And I sure want to get rid of the regulations on food safety, the FAA, strip-mine operators who walk away without restoration, industry dumping arsenic into streams ......

If you don't want government why don't you try a country without one. There are plenty where local gangs and tribal war-lords control what happens and the most people are in poverty.

To get something straight....most of the "de-regulation" that happened with the banks, came about at a very interesting time.....when some people came up with the idea that "everyone deserves to own a home".......what they didn't realize is that, no everyone doesn't deserve to own a home because they are not capable of the responsibility. This was 1996 when home mortgages were dereg'd for the less than 650 credit crowd (minorities and white trash)......hmmmmmmm who was president then?

Hmmmmmm ...... President Clinton in 1996. That was the president who left office with a balanced budget, and without the US fighting wars in two countries. Also, left with a government smaller than it is today.

Hmmmmmm!!!!Indeed! I'm guessing that you must not have paid any attention whatsoever in a class you took in high school....it was called P.O.D. and any good students ears would have perked-up abit when your teacher revealed to you that a presidents policy doesn't rear it's results for 10-15 yrs....guess what time it is?

Oh ....... So President Clinton got us into two wars, started one of the worst economic downturn in our history, has pushed the debt to astronomical proportions, etc.

You know, it takes both a responsible borrower and responsible lender. Why is it always the "less than 650 crowd" ... whatever that means, who are the people responsible for "problems"?

I don't remember saying anything about Clinton getting us into our current situations with Irag and Afghanistan , although, wasn't it his "wag" of a military action that was to "help" bin Laden against afghanistan what started this whole mess to begin with?....and yes the financial crissis has it's roots in Clintons decision to sign a bill that relaxed the lending requirements so that the under 650 credit score crowd could buy homes too......the problem with that is people that have low scores have't shown the reponsibility, that you mention, to pay for that mortgage. Hence our current financial meltdown....but I digress.

Yup, those under 650 people are the problem. I you had money to lend them then why not accept any and all applications? Of course the banks and mortgage companies had no responsibility to verify an ability to pay the loan. Why should they? They just sold the bad paper to the next bank and that to the next bank, etc. Come on ..... corporate America is running the show and a whole lot of people are turning their heads, Rep and Dems both.
