Can someone provide some history on the ruins visible off the Oconee river bridge on hwy 22 (near downtown milledgeville)? We walked around and found a room with a large metal plate, maybe part of an old mill or power station. I'm thinking more of a mill - can someone give some more info? What was the mill called? When was it in service?

It's the old Milledgeville water works. It was some kind of mill. I've been there myself.

Iíve been told it was originally a DC power station. But as AC power took over, it was converted to a grist mill. It was out of service by the time my in laws were children back in the 1950s.
