What a great article. Thank you for informing us of behind the scenes work. I'm glad Mr. Harris cares so much. I'm surprised veterans of different wars carry attitudes against each other. That probably contributes to why the Legions and VFWs are declining in membership.

Why does the County need a Director of Veteran's Affairs? This should be a State and National duty and responsibility! Another example of bureaucracy!

GWI is a condition that affects approximately 25 percent of service men and women who served in the 1990-1991 Gulf War. It is characterized by symptoms including fatigue, headache, joint
pain, sleep disturbances, and memory problems, and is potentially a result of the veterans' exposure to toxic elements during their time on duty. Veterans are going to VAMC not made aware they should still take part in the Persian Gulf Registry. They are not being drected to Environmental Agents Corrindator. They are missing data on thier DD214 which documents they depolyed to 1991 conflict. And vets are not aware the have to right to ask for a second opinion on their ilness thru the http://www.warrelatedillness.va.gov/
