Wow. I have not seen this sort of visceral hatred displayed (even anonymously!), since... well, I can't remember when. What has this man done to you, personally? Raped your daughter? Shot your dog? That's the kind of vibe I am getting here....
Let's look at some TRUE facts (documented).
"Bob Smith Automotive Group is one of the
largest supporters of community activities in
Talbot County. In addition to supporting local
schools, local sports teams, Habitat for Humanity
and local Rotary Clubs, BSAG is also
the co-sponsor of the annual Tuckahoe Truck
& Tractor Pull. BSAG also supports local performing
arts groups including CAPA (Community
Alliance for the Performing Arts) and the
Mid-Atlantic Symphony Orchestra (MSO). The
MSO is made up of forty of the top musicians
from Washington, D.C., Baltimore, Philadelphia
and right here on the Delmarva Peninsula.
BSAG underwrites many of the
orchestraís expenses including artistís talent
fees, music, and promotional items. This
orchestra is a very important organization for
the Delmarva Peninsula, as it promotes
cultural health and diversity for families and
children of all ages. BSAG knows how
important community activities are to Talbot
County and is proud to support the Mid-Atlantic
Symphony Orchestra and other local
community activities."
That was from the 2001 Easton Chamer letter- the year that BSAG was maned "Large Business of the Year", and Lee Denny was named "Businessman of the Year". Oh, how folks loved him then. Oh, and in that same letter from the Chamber, Michael S. Menzies, 2001 Chairman of the Board, wrote a column which declared 2001 "the worst economy in a decade". Did Lee Denny fold up his tents and run in 2001? No. He saw the warning signs, I'm sure. He's a businessman. He realized that he was responsible, at that juncture, for about a hundred payroll folks. The ensuing years were not so kind. The "Giant" became a little smaller. Bad economy. Downsizing. My guess (and it's just a guess, but I've known Mr. Denny a LONG time)- he was traumatized by each and every person who was ever let go from BSAG. Again, pure conjecture on my part.
But guess what (and here's some more conjecture): I'll bet somewhere in those years that he was feeding "the Giant", Mr. Denny "threw a bone" to a friend in need- took on on a "charity case" or two as an emplyee, because they were a friend or acquaintance and needed work. Why do I speculate this? Because:
A) It is in his nature to do so (no, he's not the hateful monster you make him out to be). And:
B) I was offered the "hand of kindness" from Mr. Lee Denny. He offered me a job and a place to stay when I was in the middle of a nasty divorce- at a time when his business was small (and I'm sure it did not behoove him to do so).
You folks seem to have WAAAAY too much time on your hands. Stop speculating about a poor guy turning on the spit, and offer up a prayer for a man who has aided your local economy in SO many ways.
Stop spending time wishing and waiting for his fall, and go out and spend a TENTH of the time, energy, and CA$H that he has spent in your community.
I double dog dare you.

Oh well....... I really did not know that there were so many experts about Lee Denny's personal life, his business, and his employees.

I could comment on every post in here, but why take the time? Your feeble minds are made up and nothing I say/write can change them, good luck in the rest of your life, you'll need it.

I was looking for a job when I found one at the GM Giant and I will find another, just will be with a different family.

I wonder who you are going to pick on next?

Thank you, drewblue, for clearly spelling out the MANY generous community contributions Lee Denny has not only made personally and also made through the Bob Smith Automotive Group! Not many people can say the same for themselves. Imperfect people can and often do great things as well.

Wow, this thread is a unstopped backstabbing talk about Lee. You need to see the mental counselor if you can't move on! Careful, former Giant supervisors may have a clue who you are. Watch out how it affects your reference for your future job!

Life goes on and so does the Lee Denny saga. Lee owes alot of local business money and has told at least one that he has overseas accounts and will pay hom soon from it.Meanwhile most reditors have gone to court to get a lien against Lee's assets. For those who think that this is Mayberry many people around here have been affected by this around here. What should we be talking about?

Listen, I love the Eastern Shore of Maryland, born and raised and I understand how it has affected many people. Yes, it's horrible and sad for many families, but if the man is guilty, he will pay!!!! I'm just saying it's not going to do much good spreading rumors about the man that may or may not be true.....
