Quit trying to take the debate away from the context of the original post.

The issue isn't about where people live. It is about how and whom should fund it. Personally I think those that use it should pay for it and leave Lake County taxpayers out of the mix.

Lost Nation and Cuyahoga airports need to close. They were built when a majority of the surrounding areas were rural and sparsley populated. Their benefits only apply to certain individuals as we all know. Time and population has caught up with these anomolies. They are not needed nor wanted by the majority. News helicopters that had constantly flown over all neighborhoods were responsible for damaging and ruining insulated windows from their percussion. Remember the jet engine tests? Blasting from those were at such high decible levels that normal conversations inside homes up to 10 miles away were interupted. The constant low flying of the single engine and loud aircraft has no benefit to anyone outside of a few "joyriders" And then there is the issue of safety, need I say more?

First of all, we general aviation pilots are not "joyriders." Also, airports like Lost Nation and Cuyah...ah, whatever the hell it is help the local economy. There are buisnesses that are based at the airport that put money back into the town. Not to mention the tourisim revenue it provides. If you still don't believe me, I urge you to check out a beatiful documentary called "One Six Right." Also, go to YouTube and type in "General Aviation Serves America." You will find some very good videos hosted by Harrison Ford who is by the way, a very active and supportive pilot.

You do not help the local economy....that is a blatant lie. I don't want one dime of my tax dollars to go towards funding your joy ride.

Do you:
1. Support the Lake County Commissioners purchasing Lost Nation Airport?
2. Do you believe there is room in the county budget to operate the same airport that during the 1990ís lost over $300,000 twice and a half million dollars on another occasion?
3. Do you believe our county commissioner management abilities are so superior to that of neighboring countyís that they can operate Lost Nation Airport without losing money while Cuyahoga County Airport required nearly a $1 Million county subsidy as recently as 2007 and Ashtabula County Airport continues to require annual county subsidizes, this year projected to exceed $100,000?
If you believe itís well past time for the commissioners to focus on whatís already on their plate and not seek additional opportunities to raise taxes, fees or cut existing county services, then please consider attending the Lake County Port Authority public hearing to discuss the Phase 2 Willoughby Lost Nation Municipal Airport Study.

Tuesday March 8th (5:30PM-8:00PM) at Mentor Beach Park (7779 Lakeshore Blvd) and let your voice be heard.

Does anyone know what is going on with the commissioners plan to buy lost nation airport? It has been real quiet almost one year after the best use of land study was completed. What wss the commissioners/port authority's decision?

Is it true? Willoughby is handing Lost Nation Airport (sitting on 420 acres of prime real estate) over to the county with NO compensation to Willoughby residents?
