Thank you to all the volunteers for this program. A person mentioned the program to me and while I thought about going; there are people who need the help more urgently than I do. Again, thank you.

I was there, the only thing you left out was the thunder and lighting. I did see a dentist that did some dental work for me 30 years ago, he was the one that fixed me broken tooth. I have a medicare plan it has a coverage of 150USD a year, the dentist looked at me and smiled, maybe the smile was all I was getting for the 150USD.

Bush, the Bush administration,
Jodie Rell and every member of the state assembly should stand in line, in the rain,to get dental care.
What a sad, sad state of affairs in the wealthest state n the country.
This clinic was so needed by those who have no insurance, no care and very little hope. Shame on every elected official in this state!
James Amann and Don Williams-where do you go for dental and health care?
No to a free clinic, I'm sure. Shame on you!

I live on SSDI, and I have a broken wisdom tooth that I was hoping to get fixed...I got there at 5am after getting up at 2am and I was turned away when I got there, being told that they already were at capacity, and NO there were NO shuttle buses running when they 1st opened the doors. It is apalling to think that there were already 750 UNINSURED people there for treatment as the doors opened. Did all of these people get checked to make sure that they had no insurance??? OR, was this just a convient place for people to get and get dental care without making an appointment??? Gov. Rell and all state legislators need to get more proactive and do this on a regular basis until there are no more people who have to go and play this lottery game to get dental care... I still have half a tooth and I have no idea if or when I can get it fixed now... Mission of Mercy was a JOKE ! Thank you all so very much for NOTHING !!

A more pertinent question is were they all legal citizens? I bet they were never asked.

A sign of the terrible state of the health care system in the USA. Gee, at least we're not Communists like the Canadians, tho. Better to writhe in pain and anguish than to be a Red, eh?

As the doctors and dentists and hospital administrators and insurers and other criminal collaborators laugh all the way to the bank.

And then there are the people who re-elect politicans who refuse to create change. Nice!

Being the richest state you would think people would spend a few bucks for dental insurance instead of expecting it for free. I don't beleive for a second the director at porter & chester and his RN wife can't afford dental insurance for the kids, for a family of 4 I pay $1300/yr for a prety good plan... they choose not to insure and then complain. I for sure am not going to pay for other peoples insurance and if rell and the other idiots in power ever pass anything close to it me and my business are out of here, along with the dental insurance I provide for 18 others, but then again that is their plan, to drive all small busniess from the state.

The article was titled to be negative, about how many people were turned away... how about a little praise for the dentists about how many people got free dental care? Thats the problem, you give em something for free and now it will be expected and the ungrateful morons complain it wasn't enough... wait until you get your socialized medicine, the exact same thing will happen on a much larger scale.

Would it hurt dentists if each of them gave an hour of free service in their offices each week?

Just because we're the richest state does not mean that all companies offer dental insurance. I personally work for a company that has great medical insurance, as well as long and short term disability insurance, however we are not offered dental.

Who cares if they were legal or not? What does this have to do with it? Do you have dental insurance? If so, shut up. If not, stand in line!

I have had no dental care in many years, and my teeth hurt every day, due to them being so deteriorated, and in need of much dental work. Dental care is strictly for the rich/and or insured.

I also have not even had a medical physical 30 years, due to lack of insurance. As for dealing with medical problems, well, I just hope that what ever comes up will not kill me. And try to manage to survive with a variety of untreated medical problems, including very high blood pressure.

just an FYI, a dental cleaning without insurance cost less then $100 just about anywhere. Thats less then two cartons of cigarettes. If you take care of you teeth you greatly reduce the risk of needing more costly procedures later in life.

I greatly believe in charity for those who need it!(I don't believe in socialism which I'm sure this articles is meant to support.) I think this should have been better planned instead of just open to the public at large. Perhaps organized through some of the local shelters? And maybe with some pre-screening and appointments they wouldn't have had to turn so many away.

I was at ECSU last week to see a musical that their drama society put on and, in the mens room, I saw an add for this program advocating that the college students of ECSU go have dental work done. If you can afford to go to college, you can afford to have basic dental care done!

I love all the "richest state in the union" b.s., we are no different than Mississippi and Alabama. We need to fund a national healthcare system, not war.

Perfect. You're on the dole and want somebody else to pay for your dental needs, but you obviously have a computer and internet access.

Your misplaced priorities are not my problem.
