Morrisania is one of the scariest hoods I ever walked through. Coming from the ghettos in Atlanta, never seen anything like that.....

I felt the fear in my spine and finger nails. Atlanta is dangerous, but it is flat, These projects are high and deadly!

When I was a child I lived in the apartment building right next to St. Lukes Church on 138th St. I see now from bringing up pictures of my old neighborhood that about 3-4 apartment buildings are no longer there while others on 138th St remain. Why were 631 E 138th St, 635 E 138th St, etc. torn down up to Cypress Ave? Lots of wonderful memories there in the '50's and '60's. To say you're from "The Bronx" speaks volumes no matter where you live now.

I was born in The Bronx in 1951. Stayed for a short time at Townsend Avenue before moving to 1812 Clay Avenue. When I was 8 I was sent to my Grandparents home in Scotland for a vacation. It was really so my parents could get divorced and get me out of the way. I'm still living in Scotland but I remember a happy childhood in the 1950's in The Bronx. Used to go to ( Mr ) Feddemann's Drugstore for a soda before walking along the Grand Concourse to Fordham Road. Spent many happy days playing hookey from school and sneaking in the exit of Bronx Zoo to watch the animals for the day. 12 cents for a burger at White Castle. The Bronx was a great place. Crime, drugs, I never saw any of that. Wish I still lived there.

................oh and I forgot to say. The Bronx is where you get the best pizza in the world but I suppose it must cost more than 15 cents a slice nowadays.

<quoted text>I never stop to look when cops stop someone to question them. I just keep walking and mind my own business. Obviously you were NOT minding your own business because you stopped to look and see what was going on. Why did you feel that you had to stop and look? If it was two drug dealers that had stopped and pulled guns on each other would you have stopped to look also? Would you have said that they were being rude? Why were they disrespectful because they told you to move it along because there was nothing to see there. Get over it and stop making a big deal out of nothing. I mind my own business and so should you. And by the way nothing ever changes in the Bronx. When I lived there 40 years ago the people in the Ghetto did the exact same thing. Whenever the Police stopped someone they couldn't help stopping to see what was going on instead of just minding their own business and staying out of it. Typical Ghetto culture.
I guess people like you never heard of amadou diallo, malcolm ferguson just to name a few.. What this man did was a constitutional right. You have abusive cops out there and they need to be monitored. I wonder if a relative of yours was beaten up by the police and someone adopted the same attitude you have, what would you say then? I am glad that they minded their own business..

First and foremost, the BX has changed ALOT compared to how it use to be! If that wasn't the case alot more people would be dead. Just like any borough/city/town/village, there is ALWAYS going to be crime,as well as robberies, etc. Most of the Bx is proverty period. I currently still live in Soundview and to tell you the truth it damn sure ain't as bad as it was 15-20 yrs ago. Choose your areas wisely because no matter where you go in the world you have to be on point. And NYC police majority are rude and a disgrace. Half the time it makes no point of calling them. Now say what you want.

I agree with you 100%. I lived in the Bronx all my life and it has gotten a lot better. I remember the bad old days when people were getting killed everyday. I grew up on Brook avenue, and let me tell you, that neighborhood in the late 80's early 90's was the wild wild west.

dude, that's a very bad neighborhood, anywhere in the 170's in both the Bx and Manhattan is really dangerous, it depends how hot she is and how much you want her though I guess, if you really want her go for it, but if she is just someone to kill some spare time, kill some spare time somewhere else or face the risk of being killed.....best of luck
