Looking to correspond with anyone who remembers when Bill Miskell was mayor, and Mike King sold homes in Park Lane Manor.I bought my home from Mike in 1955 on Kenneth Ave. at that time he was very active with the youth of Cahokia. I got to know Mike very well,we played ball together and also belonged to the Cahokia Democratc Club,of which at one time I was president.

at that time the police department worked out of a 2 car garage on Rt3 next to Judge LaPere home and office.it was apart time dept. with only 2 full timers, namely Bob Antoff and Chops Nadeau, with 2 cars. Chief was Leo Sosnoski, capt. Jack Spinks, and Lt Mearle Justus. it was in this time period the civil defense and auxiliary police was formed under Harvey Chandler. I was at this time given a commision to the police dept by Bill Miskell, and was also one of the first to join the auxiliary police along with my brother-in-law Bob Otto. enough for now will continue later.

You are going way back but I'll bet there are still a few people that know what you are talking about. I remember the names you brought up but when you bought you're first house I was 6 years old and lived in the Maplewood area and my grandfather had built his house in 1932.
I think Cahokia and many other areas in St. Clair County had an interesting history and you're comments are welcome.

If you have a son named Ken I went to school with him so I am his age. If you lived on Kenneth my dad was your mailman. I don't remember as far back as you do but I remember when Mike King worked at Centrville Hospital.. I remember watching both shopping centers being built. I remember we paid tickets at city hall.
I don't know about all subdivisions but Parklane Manor had a home owners association. They had elected officers and rules for home owners.
I remember there were carnivals at the wedge almost every weekend during the summer.

Back in the day it was very common to drive your car on the Cahokia streets once or twice per year
By doing so the grease from the streets would cover the cars undercarraige protecting it from the elements that caused corrosion

And it was very common for the police to beat the hell out of child molesters and run them out of Cahokia, Blisterod.

I'm not a child molester but you were and that's why the Cahokia police ran you out of town. In your case they gave you a choice, either leave and never come back or whatever.
That's why you moved to Mo. Mike Wilson.

I fully agree. Trivia like how the metro easters protected their vehicles via the grease on Cahokia streets is priceless
