EAST ST. LOUIS, Ill. - When record flooding ravaged much of the Midwest in 1993, the earthen wall protecting one of the nation's poorest cities stood fast against the Mississippi River.

This is a fact: If you live lower than any kine water that surrounds you, YOU HAVE A FLOOD RISK. Just because some foolish pols, and/or the geeks that shill for them, SAY, because of the levee, dam, whatevah, the area is no longer considered a flood plain, it tain't so. Here's another fact: stupidity will get you killed faster than teasing tigers at the SF zoo (which was pretty damn stupid). Electing stupid people to office is only the transfer of stupidity, and will still get you killed; it may, however, be delayed, and prolly made more horrible. This is where democrats & libs shine; they damn near have a corner on the market in stupidity.'We don't need to drill for oil, build refineries, build coal, nuke, solar, or wind electric plants, and energy will remain affordable, and yall stay warm in the winter and cool in the summer; and, oh yeah, the SS system will remain viable FOREVAH!' Don't worry dim dems & libs, puslymanious repubs will take up the stupid slack. Back to the flood plain: I bought some property between Mesa, AZ & Apache Jct., AZ on old route 60, Apache Trail, and was unrprised to find in the middle of our biggest desert with summer temps of 110F> it was in a flood plain. Just look to the N, NE of Mesa & AJ: there are five dams ABOVE them. What are the chances that these dams will fail? Almost nil, but never say never; it could start to rain for 40 days & forty nights tomorrow. However, say you get the clowns who built the Big Dig in Boston to 'upgrade' the dams. The clock starts ticking. Say you leave the present crop of political degenerates in power? Well, prett' near everyone knows the condition of our bridges etc.
Folks, you pays your money and takes your ride. Bitchin' after you get on only makes ya feel sorta better. Reduce your risk when you can, and go with the flow. Now it is true that the present crop of political degenerates want equal misery for everyone--but you'll notice, not for themselves. They don't have to deal with the SS system (except to make all think it'll last), they don't have mortgages, they don't have to worry about pension plans disappearing; they got their mouth clamped to the guvmint tit so tight, that that 'ole sow is squealing louder every year.
