After taxes it is $32,000 dollars a year. Not quite a million dollars that they make it sound like. He will not be going crazy with $32,000 in cash. Not much left to donate to charity? AT this point I bet he has spent over $10,000 in purchasing tickets at $10.00 or $20.00 dollars a ticket. 99.999% will never win and go deeper in debt every year for what? NYS wants you to gamble.

Congratulations on the win. And as for 'only'$32,000. That is enough to pay some bills, enjoy a vacation, and donate some to charity. Hey Bert: You jealous?

customer its $32,000 after taxes. Not $50,000. You can not spend money that is taxed. They take the tax out before you get the $32,000.00.

Bert, get over yourself. Congratulations that you have a net worth of 1.8 million, truly that's impressive. You must have worked hard for that, but really? Do you NEED to be technical? It's money, money that they didn't have. If I win $5 off of a lotto ticket, I'm thrilled. Congratulations to you Bert for being so smart and RICH and Congratulations to the Hannah's for your big win!

Not enough to retire for most people. But sure enough to make life much nicer and maybe retire a few years earlier than planned.

That's the sad truth. So many people are addicted to gambling and NYS makes money off of it. I saw a documentary that showed that the majority of the money made from gambling never reaches the schools that the lottery was made legal to benefit.

Wow, how great is that for them! I'd take $32,00 after taxes in a heartbeat! It's not jealousy, all these sour grapes on here, it's envy--there's a difference.

Jealousy says "That's rightfully mine"

Envy says "Oh, I wish it was me"

Congrats, good luck, enjoy!
