We at www.banishers.net salute you, East Rochester! Hopefully these offenders move and take their disgusting families with them, their filthy children included. The kids of sex offenders have NO business living with our good kids.

Pastor David Hess is a member of So-Hopeful New York. The group advocates for effective sex offender laws. He says residency requirements are counterproductive and ineffective.

Whats is this church "leader" worried about. Have David let them move in with you. Pervs are everywhere!!

The only problem with this if you live in a home and your ex-wife makes up sex abuse stories that are not true,They believe the woman and you would have to move out of your own house because of this.My Ex tried this against me and charges were dropped but Monroe County Social Services still believes im guilty. My Mother is dying of brain cancer and hasnt seen her grandaughter in 5 years,And myself 3 years sending letters and fighting everyway i know how to see my handicapped daughter who is in ARC of Monroe. And my Ex suffered from mental issues for years still believe her,Totally un-believable

That lasted all of a day...

And if you actually read David Hess's position, you'd see that he is not in favor of lessening sentencing for sex offenders, but simply adopting restrictions that actually make children safer rather than the kneejerk laws they pass now that make things worse. You could have sex offenders surrounding your house and your children would still be more likely to be abused by a father/stepfather/brother/uncl e/etc.

The church "leader" is acting like a church leader. Sure, you call yourself a Christian, but do you act like one? Look at the biblical story about Jesus and the sex offender (John 8:1-11) and tell me which side you'd be on? The one of compassion and forgiveness or the one with the large pointy rocks?

Statistics have shown that sex offenders are very prone to repeat their crimes agianst children. I fully support East Rochester's stand on this subject. These people cannot be "rehabed" no matter what the "church" leader says. If he is so compassionate towards these people I would suggest that he allow them to move into his home as I do not want them anywhere near mine!!

I wonder how many skeletons are in the closest of the people at banishers.net ? When are Catholic priests going to be put on banishers.net and the sex-offenders website? I am going to have to agree with Hockey Lover on this one.

Actually, statistics show that sex offenders are the least likely to reoffend and the least likely to abuse children. I can provide many references from professional sources for my information. Can you?

Over 90% of child abuse occurs in the family, so if you really want to protect your kids, get a divorce and stay the heck away from everyone, family and friends. Or you can inform your kids about the dangers of sexual abuse and let them know that it's OK to talk to you about it if it happens.

Sex offenders cannot be "fixed" just as an alcoholic cannot be "fixed". You can't cure alcoholism, but you can have a sober alcoholic. Sex offenders aren't just dumped into the community and left to fend for themselves. They are mandated to attend psychological screening and therapy sessions on a weekly or even daily basis. They form support groups to try and deal with their impulses in a safe and controlled manner to prevent relapse. And it demonstrably works. Most professionals, from psychologists and counselors to parole, probation, and law enforcement officers, agree that the residency and other restrictions placed upon sex offenders by fanatical and misinformed lawmakers disrupt those support structures and cause the recidivism probability to increase.

In other words, you are the ones putting your children at risk. Please stop.

Excellent. Thank you for illustrating my point. You don't care about sex offender restrictions. You just want to cause trouble and belittle people. Stay classy, Hockey Lover.

NOT FAIR, Whats not fair is that they committed the crimes in the first place, Thats not fair to the victims. Do they deserve fairness, They are sick and i would rather our children be safe, and give less care to what is "FAIR" to some sick individual who committed the crime. It's proven they WILL strike again! Is that "FAIR" to our children! GO EAST ROCHESTER SEX OFFENDER LAW!!!! MAKE IF OFFICIAL AND GET THEM OUT!!!!!!!!!!

Oh, you're not ****ing me off. I'm actually laughing at the implausibly incompetent replies you're spouting off. You do realize you just said that you don't care what the facts are, you just want to piss people off. That in itself means that anything you say should be taken as the ramblings of a mentally imbalanced hypocrite and not as a credible source of information on the issue.

The people defending sex offenders are not defending what they did but rather their rights as people. They are doing so because they, unlike you, have read a history book. It always starts with a list. Then come the laws forcing people to register with the list. Then come the restrictions of people on that list. Restrictions on where they can live, who they can talk to, where they can work, what they can do. Then come the ghettos. Then come the camps. Then come the furnaces.

Of course, you'll just reply "Burning people alive is GREAT!!1eleventy PERVERT!" so why do I bother.

I guess my only question is where do they live.Your town forces them out. They move to mine town.I would love for them to stay in Jail forever, but the Sky is blue and the Grass in Green, they will get out of Jail. Having an area in town where they have to live is a great idea.Making the whole town out of bounds isn't going to work.

Do you live in the village, do you have children that walk to school? Are you even a parent? You are SOOOOO WRONG!! Sex offenders Often prey on children. And often are repeat offenders. It's not about lawmakers trying to create blah blah this and that, they have a responsibility to OUR community to protect our children. If you don't have children then you have no idea how we feel as parents in this community, and if you do have children then your just ignorant to what is safe for them. I can see that you must be partial to this sensitive issue...... A little on the defensive are we... Get a clue. We It's not ours or our childrens' fault that People are sick and anything we CAN do to protect them we WILL do!!!!

Where are you getting this information? I get mine from the U.S. Department of Justice.

I'd like to see how you think 3.6%(the rate of sex offender recidivism) is often.

I'd like to see why you think that the (on average) 1 child in the whole U.S. abducted each year by a sex offender is often, compared to the tens of thousands abducted by their own parents.

I'd like to see why you think that, despite 19 times out of 20 children are abused by their family members, random strangers are a threat to your children.

I'd like to see how you think birthing a child makes you an expert on sex offenders, as opposed to little old me with a degree and a dozen years experience in the field.

Every single piece of evidence on the issue says that residency restrictions make children LESS safe. Every single one. There has not been a single study done that indicates or even hints otherwise. I don't care what you learned from Nancy Grace, these laws make the problem worse.

If you really care about your kids safety inform them of the dangers and care about them. Let them know they can say "No" to anything they aren't sure about. Let them know they can talk to you about issues as they come up. Spend time with them. Sexual predators don't attack kids walking home from school. They go after kids who's parents ignore them and who will do anything to feel loved or even paid attention to.

In my work, I've interviewed and studied several child molesters. Not one used force. The only one who re-offended was the one that was denied psychological treatment because he was illiterate. Once he got treatment (a custom program), he hasn't had a single incident in over a decade. And in none of the cases was where they lived a factor.

If you want sex offenders to not reoffend, get them a job they work at 8 hours a day, relax from another 8 hours, need a good 8 hours of sleep for, and a roof over their head to do it in. Or you can have them out on the streets 18 hours a day with nothing to lose. Your choice.

I have a closed mind on this subject. I still wouldn't want one living on my street.THX do you have children or not is the question.Do you have a sex offender living in your home, with your children. If in none of the cases where they live a factor, what does that mean.No matter where they live if they want to do it again they will. Some will never believe they did anything wrong.
