Hi, Stu. Just wanted to share some memories w/you! As for the airport: my dad would take me out there and teach me how to drive; he'd have me turn into the planes' turnaround places, signaling of course...he thought of everything. It was a good place to train; it was flat ground if you ran off the pavement! Also, enjoyed the article on the RR up the canyon. Charlie drove the mail transport for Ed Heyen, to Portola and back, from '57 to '60. He loved stopping at Spring Garden w/mail, because then he'd get to visit with Hugh Harrison's brother, who lived there in a little place near the store. He was quite the fisherman, and tied beautiful flies. He and Charlie shared many a story.
Thanks for all your work in "Looking Back;" I really enjoy them. Blessings, Barbara
