$3.5 million grant will help prepare LBUSD preschoolers

The Long Beach Unified School District has won a $3.5 million federal grant to provide teacher training and a more advanced curriculum at five of its preschool sites.

One million dollars a year to teach 1200 pre schoolers to read? What are they going to use, gold plated readers? Get real. I learned to read at three by reading the Sunday comic pages on my Grandpa's knee. Stop trying to solve the problem of incompentent teachers by throwing more money at it.
