I liked it that they were open earlier than 8:00 and later than 5:00 Monday - Thursday. At least that way I didn't have to take off work to get there while they were open! Some of us do work from 8-5 and can't get there without having to take time off from work!

Lonnie is not the mayor! And he has investments which make money for him. He doesn't JUST live on what the city pays him.

How many terms has he been mayor? The fact that these so-called "community leaders" make more per year than the average working person is reason enough that there ought to be term-limits.
No mayor, police chief, fire marshall, school board representative, or alderman should be allowed no more than two consecutive terms in office.
School board representitives do NOT get paid for being on the school board.

Where did he get the money for these investments. How much do you make as city administrator? 30-40K a year? More/Less? Did he save the money? People in town say he and Keith used grant money to purchase the buildings uptown and the few properties in town Lonnie owns? Where and how did he get the money for these 'investments' you speak of? O he must have great A credit, and is paying on them like the rest of the people in town huh? Inquiring minds want to know if he used city money or his own money.

I'm glad Lonnie is not Mayor. We will see how likeable Kevin Mainord is if he runs when its election time. If he is liked he will be voted in, only time will tell.

<quoted text> Ok, let's look at what you are saying in another way. Say you work, and the holiday is on Wednesday. But you're not scheduled to work on Wednesday Don't you want that holiday (on another day that you are scheduled to work) off with pay? Or are you saying that you wouldn't mind working and not getting the day off?
I am saying they already have a three day weekend every weekend so why do they need a 4 day weekend on every holiday that falls on Monday. If they work Tuesday through Friday it will still give them a three day weekend every weekend but will save the city money on the holidays being it is their day off anyway. Damn we pay them to work not to take 4 day weekends when they already have three day weekends every week. That is what I am saying. I hope that is clear enough for you. By the way I get holidays off if I want or I can work if I want but do not get paid for them if I take off no matter what day they fall on.

The point is, they work 40 hours a week in 4 days, just like most of us work 40 hours in 5 days. Now, if they still work all four days, and not take a "holiday" day, they will still be working 40 hours. If you work 8 hours a day, 5 days a week, and take a "holiday" day off you only work 32 hours. See the difference?????????

If you don't get paid for working on that holday...you do not have a job most people would want! I do believe you're being short-changed!

There are independent audits at least yearly. If there were any indication that Lonnie had been using city grant money inappropriately it would have come out in the audits. So, to answer your questions, apparetly he is using his own money, maybe he's borrowed from a lending institution of some sort, to buy these properties. That's what some people are able to do - acquire investments and use the money they make off them to buy more investments and use that money to buy even more!

How do you know he is using his own money? You don't. Just like you don't know whether or not him and Keith used city grant money to buy almost all the buildings uptown. Is it possible, maybe. But likely, no.

But what is likely or what could of happened is that Keith and Lonnie out bid whoever else was bidding on the building when they we up for sale. Just wondering how they could of out bid every other person who placed their bid in on these buildings every single time? How could that of happened, coincidence perhaps?

How many buildings uptown do they own? Is it 4-5-what 6?

No you are very wrong. I am self employed and take off when I want. Not short changed at all. I have a job that most people want.

Yes and the week they are off 4 days we only have our city employees working 3 days. They work for us and we should be the ones deciding what days they work not them. Lets put it up to a vote. It is a shame that on a monday holiday weekend you have to wait 4 days to get anything done at the city hall. We dont need them there 10 hours a day 4 days a week, we need them there 8 hours a day 5 days a week. How is it saving any money on utilities anyway when the police dept is open at the same building 24/7. Still waiting on that survey that is supposedly being sent out.

Well then you make my point for me. If they work Tuesday through Friday it will cost the same as if they work Monday through Thursday except the citizens will have access to THEIR city hall 4 days that week instead of 3. So it should really be no big deal to change it to Tuesday through Friday, right.
