Thank you city council members for drafting up another questionnaire as I, a registered voter did not fill out the first survey because I was uncomfortable leaving my name.
To the comments of Kevin Mainord:
"Out of the 200 survey forms filled out, 167 indicated that their needs have been served" -- How many residents are in EP? 200 out of 5000 - Is that a reliable sample?
"No one has come to me with complaints" Many residents are not fond of you, and that would make them not come to you. Plus residents like me know that you are only out for yourself, NOT the city residents of EP.
To Lonnie Thurmond getting offending --- Your right some city employees do care about the city residents but you I think NOT.. You know damn well you are all about yourself and what benefits you. Bet you miss your BFF Keith don't ya.
This is the first I have heard about any questionaire. Did they send them in the mail? Maybe they need to send the questionaires out with the water bill so everyone knows about it and has a chance to fill it out. How do they get by with having a questionaire about city services and not sending it out to all the property owners and other residents? They have the addresses. LOL.

I agree too and I know there is a night drop, but I don't like it and won't use it. There are people up there that are "shady" in character and if they don't like you, they could take your bill and throw it away, pocket the money and turn your water off and there ain't crap you can do about it.
I would rather just go in and hand it to them. That way I know they got it and they know that I know they got it.
That is exactly what happened in Caruthersville, Mo. The lady in the water office there stole the cash payments to the tune of over $70,000.00 without giving the people who paid receipts.

Who said they was going to be open on Fridays? It was my understanding that they were going to send out surveys and see what the people wanted.
I'm all for being open on Friday's but since they said they were going to send these surveys, they should have done it or printed a retraction or something.
Wishy Washy politics is what this is.

No the first survey was not sent in the mail. Someone from the city left them in the gas stations,(Mobil, Gas A Mat, Kathy's, etc.) and one could be picked up from city hall. From what the County Time says that a new survey is supose to be constructed and sent out to all residents with their water bills.

If you aren't comfortable going to the mayor, then go to your aldermen. That is what they are there for. And if you don't feel comfortable with one, go to the other one. That's why there are two.
Arguing this point really doesn't matter anyway because it has been decided to open the office up on Fridays from 8-4.
I do go to my alderman. I know exactly what they are there for. And there is no reason to go to some of them because they are like Kevin and Lonnie. And when was this decided about being closed? What did the lie about sending out another survey with the water bill? Have they had another meeting already or is it one of those closed meetings to where only the board members can attend and you know the inside scoop?

I understand that now the city is going to get a third party ( which will have to be paid for by the citizens ) to do another survey to see if it is okay to take off on Fridays that alone does not make good business !!! This whole issue is stupid !!!!! Work a full work week !!!!!!! Stop costing tax payers more money to better yourselves , but that has been the issue for years with the current administration ( what's in it for me)!!!!

In the paper, it said that the motion was made to send out an "appropriate" survey in the citizens' water bills. It passed 4-2. As far as the city council was concerned, that is what was going to happen. That was it. End of meeting. No other meetings were held - open or closed.
From my understanding, Lonnie Thurmond then conferred with Mayor Mainord and sent out a letter to the aldermen saying that he decided to go ahead with the five day work week.
I guess the paper already went to press whenever the letter went out. I'm sure next week's will cover it.

If they want to work 4 days a week, then work Tuesday to Friday.

That way the city saves that holiday pay on all the Monday holidays, being it is not a work day, and they still get their 3 day weekends every weekend.

I am sure the workers are making at least regular pay for the holiday day off and still only working 3 days the week that has a Monday holiday with a 4 day weekend. If they want 3 day weekends every week then they can do a little sacrificing on the Monday holidays.

UN FRIGGING BELIEVEABLE. I thought the whole purpose of city hall was to serve the citizens of the city of East Prairie.

That is how they would do it if they were looking out for the good of the citizens of the city.

What would be wrong with that?

Maybe we need to put it on the ballot and have a city vote on it the way they did the city stickers and such stuff.

I thought that the city hall would be open on fridays again because Lonnie said he would go on fridays and be there to help people. I don't think all the city employees are going to be working. The only thing that will change will be that city hall will be open on fridays which defeats the purpose of it being closed to save money from utilities. The comcept of a four day work weak is fine with me but some people don't feel the same. Every one has there own thoughts unforunately not everyone will be satisfied regardless.
