I have seen the protest signs around town and wondered were thay were going to put this place. Now knowing were thay wanted put a new wallmart is uncomprehensible.
There ar moor feasible places th put it.
The old home depo
The old waldbaums
the failing belport outlets
These sites all hve easy acces and are allready zoned for this. Not bulding in a residential area with poor acess.

I helped close the bellport store in its final chaotic weeks...From what I can recall (as the closing was quite a while ago) Home Depot DOES own the property and would not sell the property to a competitor. They wont be tearing it down anytime soon, although I do believe there were several furniture warehouses were gonna go there (whispers anyway)...There were also plans of rebuilding it into a Contractor Supply, but doubtful that'll happen either way...
I doubt in this climate that any big box or any box at all is going to be investing money on tearing down old decrepit buildings (lets face it, cutting down an acre or two of trees is quite a bit less costly then tearing down either of the two spaces previously mentioned. I would hope that they do something with both of those spaces...Hopefully THD would do something with it...
Actually the trees are very expensive to get rid off. The building would be recycled - for profit. Then the site would be ready for new construction. Lowes demo'd a building nearby and recycled the material. The project was well run and quick.

Daily Horoscope for December 31

Libra

If you live with other people you have to resign yourself to the fact that you all want to do different things today. The more you urge togetherness, the more everyone will be determined under tonight's Full Moon to do their own thing even if it creates problems. Try to play this down as much as possible because it's also a lunar eclipse and getting angry won't solve anything; it may even make the situation worse. Maybe this is a chance for you to do what you want for a change, too? Anyway, enjoy yourself tonight, Libra because you deserve it!
