The Taliban gang is "narcotics-based and violence-driven," Soares said.

...

"Today we should celebrate," said East Palo Alto Police Chief Ronald Davis. "But tomorrow is a new day and there will be a new gang...."

===

This would be a lot less likely if, today, we were to declare an end to the Drug War. It's the Prohibition, stupid.

Gangs will not go away until the profit motive disappears. legalize drugs and these guys would have to open up a car wash to survive.

Cops do NOT want drugs Decriminalized because it would make their job seem less important. It would also stop protection money for many of of these cops. Apology to all the honest cops.

Cops do not make laws, they enforce them. The failed war on (some)drugs is due to lawmakers in both major parties.

Can't we deem them terroists which they indeed are.
That way we can deal with them in a whole differant way.

The real gs of old made money on extortion, prostitution, loan sharking, and gambling. So even if you take the drugs out of the equation real gs will still be committing crime and using violence to quell the common people. So don't blame all the violence on the antiquated war on drugs.

Are you really this stupid? Do you see loan sharks pulling drive bys or keeping whole neighborhoods in fear in order to conduct business. Gambling, prostitution, and extortion thrive on commerce whereas drug dealing thrives by keeping a watchful eye for the police and keeping the neighbors in line via threats of violence. I don't know too many gamblers, pimps, loan sharks, or extortionists chopping people's heads off at the border. Most of the folks in these professions don't engage in kidnapping or holding a child hostage in order to satisfy a debt. I have no problem with marijuana but cocaine, meth, heroin and the like have proven to ruin whole communities

Anyone who believes we should legalize the sale of hard drugs like meth, crack and heroin is just not thinking things through. "Great work" to all involved in these gang arrests; too bad it's just a drop in the bucket.

OK... let me try to get a clear vision of what happened early Saturday morning in my town... I saw one black guy with his face covered, and a white woman... 2 people, 1 dog, and a baby perhaps... this doesn't make any sense 2 me... what makes sense is, they are trying to create this gang of mobs in our town, still...
We have tried to understand the mentality of the chief of epa... he said, when you see a group of people standing around in a remotely area, they are called a gang... HHHmmmmm... so, when i and families are standing outside, are we called a gang... and what kind of gangs?
and the list of people that are posted on the website of cbs5... there were 30 people accounted... are you saying that those were included in the raid Saturday... or is that number spread across of arrest through out the 7 years?
and they sent 500 law enforcement to raid a house in epa, and only arrested 2 people? hhhhmmmm, i wonder who and what these people do for you...

Sometimes you are guilty by association, guess people need to watch who they hang with cause two of my uncles were among the ones arrested and I can tell you they were not members of no Taliban. But hey guilty until proven innocent. Love u uncles keep your head up.

Great job to all involved!! Gangs are addicted to power. Legalizing drugs is not going to do a bit of good because they will never play along. Legalizing prostitution and drugs are like eliminating speed laws, someone is always going to get hurt or worse. EPA is becoming a little Somalia. Unfortunately their influence and product spills into Santa Cruz. Ca really should issue gang tags to hunt these fkrs down.

ATTENTION DOWNTOWN SANTA CRUZ DRUG DEALERS!

You are being hunted. You are being photographed, videotaped and recorded. You are being positively identified. Some of the money you receive is being tracked. Some of your customers are not who they seem to be. Look behind you -- you are being followed.

You are not welcome in downtown Santa Cruz. You should leave now. You and your gangs do not own the streets. We own the streets. You should leave now.

We know who you are. We know where you do business. We will know when you are gone, and then the streets of downtown Santa Cruz will be clean again.

The Taliban Gang?

So much for laying low. The FBI probably picked them up on their terrorist search engine. Of course they probably picked up this post too.
