Had an apartment on Delaware Ave a couple of years ago and experienced a bat problem. First two I chased out. The third was a very feisty little focker!! Would not leave, so I used my weapons and the battle was on! Let's just say...he lost!! Knocked him out of the air and he just laid on the floor. Went to pick it up to throw out of the window and it flew away!! I moved immediately. Before moving, contacted pest control to see what they could do. Their suggestion to me was to see if I could capture one of them so they could see if it had rabies. Picture that!!!!

Why should the city or the State do something for them? Here's an idea---quit crying, quit whining, get a tennis racket, and go to town on their pesky little butts!
Does Luke Moretti have nothing better to do? Get an exterminator and have them kill the buggers and then seal up the holes where they are coming in from.

How was this news???????

We had bats for years and finally had to do something to get rid of them. We paid about $2000.00 to rid our house of them. We had the whole house sealed with clear caulk and then when they flew out at night, they could not get back in, because of the tube that was placed at their entrance point. Once they were all gone, that opening was sealed. We have not had one bat in the house this summer and we were averaging a dozen inside the living area. The rest of the hundreds were in the attic and other areas around the roof line. It takes an expert to rid a home of these pests. Bat houses would not have worked for us. These bats were way too happy residing where it was warm in the winter. I wish you the best in finding a good reputable bat remover. Good Luck

This homeowner doesn't have a bat problem, she has a home construction problem. If bats can get in, there are holes in the home. Bees and other insects can get in, and heat is being lost. The only thing that works is exclusion. The holes in the home need to be sealed, a one way door device installed where the bats are coming and going and after a fwe weeks, the one way device is removed and that hole sealed. The part that is so expensive isn't getting the bats out, it is doing all of the necessary repairs to the home that is expensive. Homes with bad eaves, sparations in the joints and otherwise full of holes and cracks need to be repaired. Bats are NOT the problem here. There is a rule of thumb - June or July, let them fly. This is so that the babies are not sealed inside the home when the one way device is used and then rmoved. A professional knows how to do this all correctly.

I'd rather have a bat as President of the United States of America than Obama or McCain; at least a bat knows where it is going and has a sense of direction!

Finally, a voice of reason and common sense. Glad to see that someone gets it.

We have the same problem here in my house in Evans. I don't know if we have hundreds, I am afraid to watch. 3 years ago we had 10 in house in two months. Had house sided, cauked three times by a" professional bat" guy and lo and behold they are still here.I do not stay out after dusk in summer!

At my house, the bats ring the doorbell before entering...at least they have manners.
