Lucy wrote: Obviously ignorance is part of the problem. Chris Collins had no part in who the Republican party nominated. There were approx. eight candidates who were interviewed for the position. A check into Mrs. Vacco's past experience will show that she has ample qualifications. So lets not judge her based on who she is married to, but on the person she is. The issue is separate from weather or not there should be a water authority board. There was a vacant position, she applied for it, and was chosen. Heaven forbid a woman accompilish something on her own with out standing on the shoulders of a man. Oh stop playng the heaven forbid woman card! That shit get old real fast! She in because of who her husband is. I am sure their children will get perks of being a Vacco as well!

Whoa, and this is Change? Yeah under a budget and patronage that Giambra put together. I still have to give Collins his shot at the budget and patronage and that isn't going to happen until he's in office. The budgets of 2009,2010 and 2011 had better be more beneficial to the taxpayers otherwise...bye, bye Chris in 2011.

Jennifer wrote: <quoted text> I don't normally pay much attention to the "Snooze" - they are SO one-sided when it comes to politics, and their endorsed man lost. boo hoo. And I don't think you are remembering correctly - I don't believe I ever chastised you on this subject.(I do remember that there was a time that there were two Jennifers posting though...) I agree, the News is very one-sided. If you aren't the Jennifer I was referring to, I apologize!

And before you spout off, do you even know what her qualifications are? Try educating yourself BEFORE you comment. Should she not have gotten the job even if she was best qualified because of her husband? She is a very successful and highly respected attorney in her own right, and doesn't need to ride her husbands coat tails.

What arrogance these people have! Knowing they are under taxpayer scrutiny for patronage jobs, they still go and do it. That's their way of flipping the bird to the taxpayers! REMEMBER THAT PEOPLE!!

Why is this news and why should anyone be surprised by this? The only way that this would be news would be if they appointed a politically UNCONNECTED person to the ECWA.

If she is so successful and respected as you say, why in the world would she take a demotion and such a drastic pay cut? Hmmmmmm... Life long benefits maybe? No show job? Trying to lay the ground work for a possible future in politics? Get real, this has patronage written all over it! True, Collins isn't in office yet, but if you honestly think he had nothing to do with it, you are incredibly naive.

Jennifer wrote: <quoted text> Um, though he has stated his opinion on the choice, Collins had NO say in the actual appointment. He's not in office yet, remember? Jennifer, you should wake up and smell the coffee. Collins had a lot to do with this even though he is not yet in office. just look at his politcally laden transition team (which Dennis Vacco is a prominent part of). As I have been saying for weeks, those of you who voted for Collins because you thought that he would be different - SURPRISE !!! Even some of the old poltical names have already resurfaced (Vacco, Naples, Calabrese) with many more to come. What naive fools you all were.

I LOVE when people speak without the facts to back up what they say. What demotion is it that she took? What pay cut? Do you even know what job she currently holds? Why do you think she couldn't continue to perform her current job? Do you think because she is a commishioner now that she can't practice law? And I'm naive? Please! Do you people really have nothing better to do than bitch and moan about the sucess of someone else who you obviously know nothing about? Perhaps if you spent more time trying to excel at your own jobs instead of stealing your employers time and money reading and responding to these comments, you too could earn, yes earn, the money you think you deserve. If this is the kind of news that makes headlines in Buffalo its No wonder you continue to loose young people to other areas and cant draw people to your city.
