Did we give a half million of taxpayer money to a private company to put up a windmill? I'd like a windmill at my house so I don't have to pay any more electric bills. Will the taxpayers write me a check? This is such BS.

I don't see where it says any tax dollars were spent on this project. They probably received a rebate of some sort, just as you would for putting solar panels on your house, but as with the turbine at Jiminy Peak, this seems to have been a wise business decision...not a public works project. The company invested $1.7 million with an expected pay-back of 6-8 years and then a cash-positive result thereafter. If you need it explained further perhaps you should be reading the Weekly Reader instead...it's not that complicated

Where do you think the Mass Renewable Energy Trust (which was created by the Mass Legislature) gets its money. Every electric bill that gets paid by us includes a surcharge (aka tax) that goes to the Trust. If the Company invested 1.7 million, that means it was a 2.2 million dollar project, 500k of which was paid by us. We are so hell bent on getting these projects off the ground it apparently doesn't matter how rich we are making private companies and wind developers off the backs of little old ladies (like uncle sam's bowl legged mother) just trying to pay their electric bills.

I see you did your homework and you are correct, the company put up all the money for this project out of its own pocket. Some people should read up before they leap.
