NOTE - I borrowed the "Palin-tology" header from an MSNBC news rundown ... ~~~~~ *** Palin-tology: Even with the president in China, with the Gitmo news, with Afghanistan, with the state of the U.S. economy, and with one of the biggest legislative fights in memory (over health care), the story that's been mesmerizing the political world over the past few days is ... Sarah Palin. This is a testament to her political strength (the buzz and curiosity that surround her) and her political weakness (that she remains a deeply polarizing figure, even within her own party). Indeed, in last month's NBC/WSJ poll, 52% of Republicans had a positive opinion about Palin, compared with 28% of independents and 9% of Democrats who said that. As GOP political consultant Mike Murphy, who isn't a Palin fan, told First Read: "She is polarizing within the GOP and totally unpopular outside the party. And that is not a recipe to get into the White House." Palin's interview with Oprah airs today. Her book officially hits the stores tomorrow. And she begins her book tour on Wednesday. ~~~ *** Like Sands Through An Hourglass.: NBC's Andrea Mitchell reports that John McCain has specifically asked his former aides not to do interviews rebutting Palin's charges in her book -- to avoid escalating the feud between her and the campaign staff. Most are complying with his wishes, hoping it will die down. But in a conversation with Mitchell last night, one key player targeted by Palin in the book points to emails on Huffington Post that contradict Palin's version of several instances. The former McCain campaign aide, who asked not to be named, told Mitchell: "It is unrecognizable at every instance. There is not one truthful account as it relates to any conversation I ever had with her." Regarding the accusation that the campaign tried to hire a nutritionist to make her eat, two former aides said that the campaign was getting media calls and calls from higher-ups on the plane that Palin wasn't eating enough and had lost too much weight. There was concern about her health and stamina heading into the vice presidential debate. ~~~ *** The Young And The Restless: In addition, former McCain (and Bush White House aide) Nicolle Wallace tells Mitchell that the conversations Palin recounts in her book involving the Katie Couric interview, Palin's campaign wardrobe, or any of the other allegations involving Wallace never happened. "I never saw her take a note and she never contacted me for any fact-checking, nor did anyone on her behalf." Wallace says, "It's just fabricated." She adds that the same campaign staff whom Palin disparages in her book as idiots prepared Palin for a hugely successful convention speech and initial rollout, a good initial interview with Charlie Gibson, and a passable debate performance. ~~~~ MORE .. http://www.FirstRead.MSNBC.com NOTE - I realize that we have participants on this Forum that truly believe that MSNBC, and most other non-conservative news resources, are ALL Commnist Front Organizations. Read at the risk of being enlightened. ~~!~~ |

1 I remember the left and the moderates painting Ronald Reagan as a "war-monger" and "intellectual lightweight" and "bad actor" and "teflon president". What Reagan had, and what Palin exhibits, are shared common values that the Palin (and Reagan) critics lack with mainstream America. While I cannot speak to whether Palin's book is 100% or 0% accurate in it's depictions of events and conversations, as it is pretty subjective outside of transcripts or recorded media, I can speak to the fact that there is an agenda being pursued by the lefties and moderates in this country. Sarah Palin threatens that agenda, not because of her intellectual firepower, but because of her values and beliefs, which are in closer step with the founders of our nation than the buffoons who are currently dismantling our great constitutional republic piece by piece. Glad Sarah is there, glad she's not backing down. I'd like to see some men doing the same (stepping up for our country & constitution, rather than squeaking in support of a gov't seizure of the health system and loss of individual freedom) instead of picking on a woman whom threatens their perceived manhood. Oh, and that passable debate performance? She kicked Biden's butt. He, being in the establishment for decades, she being a newcomer from little Wasilla Alaska. Biden brought his massive intellect and public service experience to the table, Sarah brought her values. Biden came off as the empty suit he and his establishment buddies are. Sarah shined. So keep up the criticism Eldon, it demonstrates more about yourself than Sarah Palin. She can handle herself, including her own health care decisions. If you are unable to care for yourself, run to Obama and let him tax you, determine if you are eligible for care, charge you for the "free" services, and if you don't like what he has to offer, get a second opinion. Wait, Obama does not offer a second opinion. You get end of life counseling. Sweet. Don't like the Obamacare? Don't sign up for it? Get fined and thrown in jail. Freedom is not free, it comes with a price. Yeah, Sarah Palin is a threat. Go Sarah. |

"So keep up the criticism Eldon, it demonstrates more about yourself than Sarah Palin." Sorry Sunshine ... I did not critique or criticize Palin. I watched the last half of her Opra interview ... Palin does an excellent job of building her own boxes with no windows. ~~~ "You get end of life counseling." ONLY upon request. If/when a "patient" wants to review "options" the doctor can be paid a modest fee for the consultation. There are NO DEATH PANELS as you and Sara continue to SHOUT about!! ~~~ "She kicked Biden's butt." And YOU are certainly entitled to your opinion. ~~~ Last Sunday morning on This Week With George S., two of the most conservative writers on the current scene, George Will and David Brooks both indicated that Palin is “joke”– their words not mine. ~~~ I am looking forward to her running, for whatever she chooses in 2012 ... her candidacy will save the DNC tens of millions of Buck$ on TV advertising. ~~!~~ |

1 Eldon, seriously, what your Obamacare is structured around is the rationing of health care based on the QALY system.(quality assessment life years) The decisions made to PERMIT or ALLOW health services for an individual will no longer be between a doctor and his/her patient. It will be determined by a faceless bureaucrat who will look at Eldon Thompson and say "hmmm, 76 years old. USA life expectancy is 77.9 years. Eldon could use a bypass operation, but even without one, he will likely live another 2.5 years, and with so many younger people needing bypass surgery, we'll have to deny that request. He should be happy though, he'll make it past the life expectancy rate for the USA. Sounds like a "death panel" to me, making life and death decisions without your input and not allowing you an appeal nor the right to privately contract for medical services on your own dime. Think not? Listen to Robert Reich, an Obama advisor and former Labor Sect'y under Clnton, who makes it very plain what the value of your life is to him and the democrats; http://www.prisonplanet.com/robert-reich-on-h... You say Palin builds boxes with no windows? Democrats build coffins for the unborn, the elderly and infirm, and take away your options to receive the kind of health care that not only can add years, but a better quality of life. Enjoy Reich's comments. Very revealing. |
